GNX question

Hey GNX owners!

I've been reading the owner's manual of GNX 4, and it has me very intrigued.

I'm looking for a practice tool that will let me:

- Do basic drum / bass backing tracks

- Play CD/MP3 inputs

- Do looping on the fly

- Store some loops. Ideally let me retrieve any loop on-the-fly.

Although a drum machine or looper fits the bill, the GNX4 does so very well, and has lot of pedals for hand-free operation. The GNX4 includes the JamMan looper functions apparently. It also had an 8 track recorder on board.

OK, so my question is.......

What's the earliest GNX model I can buy that does all of this stuff just about as well the GNX4? I REALLY DON'T care about recent improvements to the amp model and effects. I am willing to go cheaper and have lower quality in this respect.

Your thoughts?

but I have to warn you, I have one and the switches are real cheap on these, I have like 5-6 totally shot after about 2 years and I always carried it in a case.

That stinks  ....

... definitely makes me think twice about buying it, esp. used!

i had a gnx3. it's versatile, but too hard to figure out. the manual is agonizingly thick, you know? i'm sorry i don't have any suggestions off hand, but i'd recommend staying away from such complicated things as the digitech gnx unless you have a lot of time to figure it out
