Members Marshall2553 Posted December 6, 2005 Members Posted December 6, 2005 If you have a MIDI controllable rack preamp can the Boss GT-8 be used to send MIDI program changes to switch channels on the preamp? Thanks in advance for any replies!
Members UncleDig Posted December 8, 2005 Members Posted December 8, 2005 You can download the manual here: http://www.roland.com/products/en/_support/om.cfm?ln=en&dsp=0&iCncd=692
Members jeverist Posted December 8, 2005 Members Posted December 8, 2005 Yes, you can. The GT-8 has MIDI in/out and will both send and respond to program change messages, assuming you have your gear set on the same channel. You can also send Control Change messages - useful if you wanted to use the expression pedal on the GT-8 to control parameters of another device, for example.

Out of the box, the GT-8 sends a different PC message for every bank/patch. If you don't want to be stuck with that, you'll have to read the MIDI section of the GT-8 in a bit more detail. Not sure what you read or didn't read, but there is an entire section on MIDI use in the manual. Good luck!
