thanks for the tips.. do you think elmers wood glue would work or should i go buy the carpenters white?

I've found nothing better than the stuff that Antique Electronics Supply sells as tolex adhesive.

 

Easy to use and holds very well.

 

One of the problems with Elmer's-type glue is clamping it in place while it sets up. With the water-based AES stuff, you let it dry, then put the pieces together, and they stay together.

 

I've heard it described generically as latex contact cement.
