Hello,

I am a newbie looking for some help.

I have a Boss pedalboard with:

Tremolo

Flanger

Phase Shifter

Super Octave

Reverb

Digital Delay

All by Boss. When I first bought the pedals, they sounded great.

Now, The sound for all the pedals are dull, metallic, muddy, tinny, and just no warmth! I guess my ears can tell that these pedals arent that good.

Is there anything I could do to make the pedals sound Warm and clear sounding?

EQ?

Mods?

Thanks for the help in advance.

First off, try searching this forum for "boss mod." This comes up about 3-4 times a week. If you want to send your pedals out to be modded, check these sites.

www.robertkeeley.com

www.indyguitarist.com

If you want to mod them yourselfs on the cheap, go here.

www.monteallums.com

If you have experience soldering and want to create your own mods, go here.

www.diystompboxes.com

You can also find some pedal mods by searching the reviews of pedals on Harmony Central. Sometimes people will mention mods they've done to their pedals. The TR-2 has some mods people have listed for it on HC. Search for it.

tr2 --> red witch pentavocal or zvex seek-trem

bf3 --> vintage mxr flanger

ps3 --> keep that

oc3 --> keep that or get the foxrox octron

rv5 --> line6 verbzilla or electro harmonix holier grail (not the holy grail!)

dd6 --> digitech digidelay or boss dd20 or line6 echopark or line6 dl4 or echoczar or memory lane or ehx deluxe memory man or moog delay or ...........

you will get broken afterwards but i think it's a little improvement to your rig...

:freak:

Tremolo- Cusack Tap-A-Whirl

Flanger- Foxrox Paradox TZF

Phase Shifter- MXR Phase 90, or one of the old Mutrons

Super Octave- Foxrox Octron, or EHX POG

Reverb- Line 6 Verbzilla

Digital Delay- Boss DD-20

yep that's cool. i thought the ps-3 would be the pitch shifter.. of course don't keep that at all!!!! got the mxr or akai for it.... maybe the red witch or moog.

when i played the mm4 i liked the tremolo. but the rest i didn't like. i don't think it's much of an upgrade to your existing rig... though i don't know about the mod...

My current pedals?

They sound muddy, even at the studio they were not that good. I used the effects with Marshall JCM 800, Mesa Boogie Triple Rec, Vox AC30, and rackmount distressor. The pedals were not all that.

Maybe they are just good for live purposes, but I want something good for recording.

There are plenty of people who record with Boss pedals. I just don't think that there's anything greatly wrong with them.

After all, if they sound different to you now than they did when you got them, what's changed? The pedals are still the same...
