Looper and delay redundancy=Am I Crazy?

I'm not a rich man, much more a paycheck to patcheck guy. I got it in my head to get a new delay pedal and maybe a new looper. Anyway I ordered an Akai E2 from an online dealer with a great return policy, got it and LOVE it, great delay, great looper. But I also bought an RC20XL and a Digitech Digidelay both dicounted. I figured I would return either the E2 or the RC50XL/digidelay combo. I can't bring myself to do it, I play both bass and guitar and these 3 pedals are very usefull in either situation. Not to mention I already own a Loop Junky and a DD-3. I'm not gonna be shy the rent, I take care of my bills and rarely buy myself toys/tools. All 3 of these pedals put me in the hole less than $500 combined. A weeks pay. But I need alittle effects forum support here. Please tell me I'm not crazy, I want too keep all three. Am I freakin' loopy?:freak:

Keep 'em all man

Here's what I've learned after years and years of being a total gear whore

Certain effects vibe with a player... most people will probably only really get into using a handful of actual effects in their entire life..

Think about the famous players... usually there are maybe only 3-5 actual effects that they are famous for using.. But often they'll have several versions of that kind of effect

So if you're a delay and loop type of guy.... you can never have too many delay and loop pedals.

Example: If you only pull out a chorus pedal here and there...then you only need one cuz it's not necessarily your thing... or maybe you don't even need a chorus and should trade it for another Looper :-)

Ya see where I'm going with this

Keep all your loop/delay pedals...they sound like your personal style.... you'll miss them if you part company

at one point i thought i could never have enough delays,

I just sold 6 in the last month ..

Ibanez cd10

Ibanez ad9 original

DD-6

Ibanez de7

Danelectro pb&j

Digitech pds 2700 (shoulda kept this one though)

It gets overbearing at some point , like why do i have all of these ? Besides the nice oscillation from the cd10 , i have all those tones covered , with my dd20 , dl4 , pds20/20 and even more..

Your Joking right? you must mean the DD-3 that gets me through the night, no high cut mods for me, sounds perfect just the way it is. Besides, my new Headrush does the tape delay like the real thing to these old ears:D

I'm always torn between effects minimalism and having a broad pallette of tones.
Currently, i have a DD-80, DD-20 and Ineko on my big board, but i've been thinking of going to just the DD-20 and one fuzz.

I do love all the pedals on my board, but sometimes it seems like less really is more.

you'll regret it :D

I've done that before too... and then ended up buying the same pedals again...it's a stage of GAS we all go through before achieving master gear slut status

I'm a phasor and delay type of guy. I plan on having 3 phasors (infinitphase, retro-sonic phasor, tape-a-phase) and 3 delays (Memory Lane, DD-20, DL-4). Sure they'll cost me mondo $$$, but at least I'll have all of them to inspire me and keep me on my toes. It's a good idea to me to have 3 delays, esp when each has it's own character. :thu:

Agreed, each of these delays does it's own thing and has its own sound. If I had a gun to my head and had to pick one it would be the headrush E2, it's been making me smile for days now. You can't put a price on smile's:)

After going through the "I had to have every effect just in case I use it occasionally stage", then the "I had a great rack set-up with all the bells and whistles stage", then going back to " I had to have two pedalboards...one with the works on it and the other being a smaller version stage", I smartened up.

Even with buffering the boards, the amp sounded like {censored}, so now I have a Trailer Trash board with a Radial Loopbone running in one loop, a Black Finger compressor, and in the other loop, a Boss EQ-20 and Teese Picture Wah. The board holds a Sennheiser Digital remote and a Goodrich hi to lo out volume pedal which is all that goes straight through to the amp input.

Sitting on top of the amp is a TC delay/reverb unit and thats all I now use. It sounds FAR better then all the other stuff I tried, and the signal is as clear as a bell with or without the effects running.

Most people, after playing for awhile will realize that the most effects used are delay, chorus, or some other time modulation, and distortion. Since my amp's distortion is already good, I only add some compression as needed and that's all that I use. Most people in the audience will not hear all the other {censored} running on a board if the band is playing, so why screw up good tone?!

Of course, if you are not into good tone, then this post is obviously useless.

nnnnnnnnnniiiiiiccceeee...

i have a question about that thing though - is the "reverse" button a PUSH button?

and does it reverse the LOOP, or the delay signal?

one last thing - that looks like a cool pedal (which would make it worthy enough for its OWN THREAD hint, hint) - but seriously, change the graphics on it. that pseudo-comical font makes the thing look like an opening screen for a Warner Brothers cartoon.
lose it.

what's the estimated price on this monstrosity? please say

the reverse, loop, trails, time range and multi tap functions are all on mini toggle switches.

Reverse and Loop funtions can be turned on and off via a two button remote switch.
-------------

I am off to China in 45 minutes to make sure this thing gets made. I am also going to be doing QC on the first run of our Disnortion pedals.

-------------

More in April when I return.

Cheers,
