Hi all,

I was wondering on what are your opinions on this amp? I see it gets no loving in the HCAF and the review section and i didnt get any significant replies at the TGP. So the user friendly HCFX is my best bet .

Anyone?

I am looking at the Blue Velvet 50W head or combo.

I saw one (the combo) at a local store once, and played through it for about 20 minutes. I only really dialed in one tone, a crunchy Marshall-ish rhythm tone... it sounded so nice that I didn't bother trying any other settings (so I have zero knowledge of its clean or bluesy breakup tones). Not very helpful, probably. :o

I have the 25W combo not the 50W so stop reading if this of no help but....

Build quality is superb. It is solid with no rattles. Switches click with authority and are firm.

The clean channel is VERY clean and sweet.

The blue channel is as stated above. I tend to like the Marshally crunch I can get.

I have a few pedals I run into the clean channel. A Boss DS1 with the Analogman Promod and a Marshall Bluesbreaker...... both sound great.

It is VERY Loud.

I have only been playing about a year so take all of this with a grain of salt but I really like this amp. I met Bruce Zinky at my local guitar shop and we talked about the amp a little. He promised if anything EVER went wrong with it he would stand by it and I believe him. He is now also making SUPRO amps.

I went with the black tolex and not the blue fur

Good to know man..

3 questions.

1. Bruce told me that the amp gives out EXCELLENT tones at low volume (bedroom) because of the efficient MV .

2. Will the overdrive channel give me ACDC, Led Zep, Cream, Doors etc?

3. Is it possible if you have, to see any gut shots of the BV? ie the pcbs etc.

1. Bruce is right. I use it in my apartment and get a wide range of tones at acceptably low volumes.

2. I get overdrive tones that I like and I think you should be able to get what you want but again my hands are fairly uneducated and untalented so your mileage may vary. I heard Bruce playing thru this amp and he got some nice OD tones. There is a speaker bias switch on the back that will darken the tone a little if that is what you want.

3. I don't have any PCB pics and the camera is down right now.

I think bspears has you covered.

To answer your question, I actually didn't buy the amp. I was in the shop that day to pick up my guitar after a setup, and the owner said I might like to plug into 'that one' (the Zinky). I wasn't actually amp shopping at the time. :)

I do recall the amp wasn't noisy at all, and did do the Marshally thing very well at low volume (I'm not confident in my playing, so I didn't have it turned up loud at all).
