Yet another distortion question....

Been finding my Hot British a little thin sounding of late (and i'm not really a fan of the mid boost sounds on it) compared to my Sparkledrive.... so i guess i'm looking for something with a similar sort of Ts(ish) sound with a little more saturation...

I set my jtm to an edge of breakup clean and it sounds heavenly with the output on the SD waaay up... but for a distortion sound the gain up too is great but doesn't give all that much saturation..

so is there a TS type pedal with a more distorted sound, do i want more gain or will that thin it out further..

is a Keeley ts9 what i need (more gain etc?) or is there anyhting else out there that you can recommend?

Cheers in advance! K

I would also suggest getting a Dual Channel TS-type and if money's an issue, ditch the SD and replace it with the dual-channel one.

I'd say the Foxrox ZIM can NAIL the TS-with-crazy-gain thing. I also think the Barber Direct Drive sounds amazing in this regard. He has pedals with more gain though-- check out the Burn Unit if you need more saturation.

Lots of options in this category, good luck! (P.S. You're talking to someone who finds the ToneBone pedals "thin-sounding" as well, and who loves thick TS tones. I have both the pedals listed above and love them.)

The Barber Direct Drive is incredible. I've owned just about every overdrive out there. The DD saturates without going thin. Another really nice pedal is the Diamond J Drive. Great overdrive with a warmth control.

Keeley Fuzzhead is my go to dirt pedal, super versitile pedal. way more to it than fuzz, has germanium and silicon transistors and you can change tone capacitors to tailor the sound.

i have a Keeley modded ts-9dx and for me the Fuzzhead walks all over it for usefullness.

i can run my amp on clean and step on the Fuzzhead and instantly be into Black Sabbath crunch. on super high gain amp settings the Fuzzhead still behaves real nice and makes for an awesome lead boost.
