Anyone know what kind of rig he had? I'm curious.

On Bela Legosi's Dead it sounds like he is using a delay and manipulating the delay control, but I'm not quite sure.

he was fiddling with the tape on his tube WEM Copicat.

H||H amplifiers for most everything. The tele into that with ?? pedals and his e-bow.

To be contrarian, I go with Tones on Tail. The e-bow work is best here (Burning Skies for instance), and to differentiate between Bauhaus and Love and Rockets when they are the same minus Peter Murphy is too hard to do.

same bandmembers but quite a different sound. not as dark, added dance club and fuzzy blues bits, etc.

what's an HH amp?

But your hair is long and brown.

Your legs are strong, and you're so, so long.

And you don't come from this town.

~MkF!

"Your strut makes me crazy!"

1. they're green

2. well, not too long

3. only 5'7" actually

6. probably not

so that's another vote for the band named after a comic then?

British solid state amplifiers. Cool green glowing face plates like this one:

also used by J Spacemen (Jason Pierce) of Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized.

I'd have to say that all three are exceptional

Daniel Ash was one of my guitar heroes

I wish Rockets hadn't gone so electronic with Lift

Hot Trip to Heaven was good enough

but it's been years since I listened to it

maybe I'd like it better for some reason now

I haven't really looked into what these guys are doing for awhile now

did they break up?

I believe David J. lives in Encinitas very close to San Diego

Daniel Ash is in CA last i heard too.

they're doing a Bauhaus reunion again--touring with NIN. no news on the L&R front, to my knowledge.

strange how things sort of creep into your playing without you knowing. i've been listening to these bands since i was this tall...

but i never really think about them as a conscious influence. yet retrospectively i'm always finding little Ash bits in my playing.

I figured Daniel lived in LA

he did a lot of DJ'ing there when I lived there

I got into a huge argument w/ my roomate about whether or not the members of L&R were rich (this was in '97)

my opinion was that they had been around for a long time and had sold enough records to probably be fairly loaded

he argued that they were probably well off, but not necessarily rich

now wasting money aside, I just assumed that they were at least your basic millionaires

so I see Daniel Ash at this little club in Hollywood and my friend and I were joking about ending our little argument

but we didn't want to be rude and figured we couldn't really count on getting an accurat answer

so we left him alone

I've always respected people's right to privacy

did anyone catch that little bit in the gotham dvd where he talks sarcastically about the strings and plectrums he uses? I actually wanted to know that stuff haha..sort of on topic: does anyone know what's he's using for pedals these days? I've heard both an "all boss" and "all dod" setup..

my friend saw him at a club in LA and invited him for a drink. he's quite the nice fellow apparently. he saw his house but didn't comment on its size or luxuriousness. i'll have to ask.

Just remember what the Beatles said about UK taxes:

"If 5% appears too small, be thankful that I don't take it all"

Yep, at least back then the taxing rate was 95%!

I would put them as upper middle class but not rich. I remember David J had a bunch of E-bay auctions to help fund a solo album.
