What test are you taking? Is it the ICC test or are you in a state that gives its own version? 90% is good on a Journeyman exam considering the ICC Journeyman test has an 80% failure rate!

The major difference you should see between the Journeyman and Master exams is alot of 3 phase questions in regards to transformers and motors on the Master test.

take care,

Its the Block test... the one that like 40 states share...

I have no problem with motor and transformer calcs... 3 Phase is almost all I deal with so Im comfortable there...

the 80% failure rate must hold true... My sponsor called me and said that he had sponsored 18 including me and 4 of us passed.... 3 of us with 76% and myself with lucky number 90...

The Block is what I took when I passed my Journeyman exam in 1995. I made an 84% and the local inspectors acted like I was freak of nature saying "no one ever makes higher than a 75%".

Those guys are long since retired and now I am one of the local inspectors and must agree with them!

If 3 phase is your strong point the Master shouldn't be much harder than the Journeyman.

I plan to take the ICC (former SBCCI) Master Electrician exam sometime this year.

take care,
