Members dewees
I've done a search in this forum and learned a little about who is making what. I could drive an hour and a half to a music store with a reasonable inventory. But you all could make this a lot easier for me. I thought I'd ask for three so as not to set up an argumentative situation. I'm thinking of selling my Boogies in favor of an amp with a killer clean tone (and less weight.) I don't use distortion all that much. When I do, I've always relied on the distortion in the amp. I haven't owned a distortion pedal since I sold my MXR Distortion + about 25 years ago. Members thebazaar
my 5 faves, going on both what ive tried and clips ive heard, would be: MI Audio Tube Zone. versatility, tone and control. i love it. Sib Vari-drive. Loud, crunchy and a good overdrive too. MI Audio Cruncbox. super sweet, plexi like tone. This and the Bennet Brown Sound are the best 80's rock distortions ive heard Fulltone Distortion Pro. Not for everyone, but with a Boss SD1 giving it a little kick, a strat and a sweetly set tube amp, this thing can be killer. definately not plug and play Analogman King of tone. although primarily a boost/od, the distortion dip switch setting is killer. That tone alone has put it at the top of my gas list.
Members fusionid
I would try the boss DS-1, tone set at 9 o clock for marshall tone being kicked in the nuts like. Im currently not in the market for a distortion but if I was I would check out the rat.
Members tremolo531
I would say the Boss DS-1 too. It's nice simple distortion. The Danelectro Fab Metal pedal isn't bad either. And it's only about $15.

Members Ray18
they should rename the ds-1 "box of ass" because that's what it is plus the bypass buffer kills your tone

Members agentcooper2001
FoxRox ZIM Lovepedal Eternity Those are my top two. I will have a D*A*M Ram Head and a Skreddy Top Fuel in the next few days, and I know they are considered fuzz, but that can be distortion too. I have high hopes for both. Anyways, i would say: Zoom driver 5000 Tonebone Hot British Bad monkey yeah I want one I second the bad monkey if you need an overdrive. It sounds like... an overdrive channel of a fender amp to me. Lovely and lives on my pedalboard as well.Like I said before I use the DS-1 for satriani tones. To me it sounds very 80's. think satriani on always with me, or vai on touching tongues (varing the tone and distortion).I think that if I didnt have it, I would try the SCOD cuz everyone here is ghay over it. Actually if I had the money I would probably just get it.
