Members BAM
It has been quite some time my friends. For those who are new, i once roamed these forums endlessly like you. Anywho, I've got a small problem with my new amp. About two weeks ago, I bought a Fender Super Reverb. I love it to death. I also modded my wah pedal with the vocal mod which only put my ears in a greater ecstacy. So i was playing tonight and was jamming with my wah, when suddenly my amp began to produce this low bassy white noise. Basically, its the sound you hear when you hold a live cable. Just a constant feedback, but very loud and full of bass. So i immediatley ran over to my amp and switched it off and waited a few seconds and turned it back on. Okay, I began playing again. However the problem returned. I did the same thing but then plugged back in without the wah or any other device, just straight in. I began playing again, but it sounded a bit quiet to me. I continued to play, and it suddenly became louder. I played a few more chords, and the same feedback sound came back. Can anyone tell me whats up and what I can do to solve this? Members BP90
turn on the amp and tap the tubes with the eraser end of a pencil.... if you hear it through the speakers theres a good chance youve got a bad tube....

Members orourke
The preamp tubes don't have to match, so go get a pre-amp tube (12AX7?, I prefer Electro Harmonix for preamps). It'll on cost $10 or $15 bucks. Switch each tube for the new one until you find the one that's bad.
Members MrSage
I've purchased brand new tubes and had them go bad before. The guy at the shop swore up and down that it was brand new and couldn't be bad, but when he finally gave me a different one, it made all the difference in the world.
