Members Porkchop Xpress
I do. All the time. I am always talking to the guys at work about all of this gear and equipment and they really don't understand or give a {censored}. Is it just me? My wife knows more about gear than most guitarists and she really couldn't care less about it.

Members ZJD
I talk to my girlfriend about stuff but then I stop when she says, "you spend too much money on pedals" or "I don't care, I DON'T care, I DON'T CARE what you just got!!!". My wife knows more about gear than most guitarists and she really couldn't care less about it. Not at all. I have a guy at work that goes on and on about things that I really don't care about (his home remodel, the misery that is his life, etc...). I would never do anything remotely close to that. Funny thing is, the guys in my band don't even understand half of the crap I talk about when I bring up gear.

Yep, but I think my GF is just saying that cuz she'd rather have me spend that money on her, so I feel better in the end when I talk myself into thinking she's more selfish than I am. Members Shblay
I'm always telling my girlfriend about stuff I want gear wise. Pedals I'm pretty sure she could care less about, but at least with guitars, she can give her opinion on which one looks the prettiest.
Members Teahead
I try not to and not least because it serves to remind me of, not to mention expose to others, just how geeky I am about it all. For instance... I was talking with a guy at work, he's a decent player, but somehow under the illusion that a Big Muff was the answer to all Hendrix's fuzz tones. Naturally, I had to sit down for a while to compose myself before I began to correct him. About twenty minutes into my correcting his opinon, by which point I was explaining where and when Jimi used Germanium and or Silicon pedals and the differencs between the two, I realised he couldn't give a flying {censored} for that amount of detail. He just wanted a pedal that gave him a sound related to Jimi's general recorded tone and through his $100 practice amp, at "kids are sleeping" volumes... and the Muff did the job. Members CicadaSilence
No. Would you want someone running his mouth at you about things that you don't care about? Theres a guy I work with who goes on and on and on and on and on about World of Warcraft; even if you ignore him, tell him that you flat out don't care, hit him in the throat, or threaten to cut the brake lines on his car f he doesn't shut up. I know all kinds of {censored} about that game thanks to that guy, and I've never even played it. That's just rude.
Members Roy Brooks
I talk to my wife about it sometimes. But she is actually interested in stuff like that. Though I actually spend more time talking about music than I do gear.
Members farfignewgon
The guys in my band don't really understand gear...that's why i never really talk about it much. It was pretty funny when my bass player brought up that he was looking for some new gear and our drummer asked him if he'd heard of a magazine called musicians friend. Members CS
I only talk gear with people who care and I only go into detail with people who want to. My boss and two colleagues play guitar but I dont bother going into geeky detail as they really are not bothered. I have lent one of them my practice amp ( Pignose G40V) which he thought was better than his generic practice jobby. However when I answered a question on those bottles in the back his eyes glazed over. People like uson this forum are in the minority off a minority group. I realise how geeky I am when Guitarist review so called new pedals that I've owned for two years or more.

Members The_Spice
I do, but usually by accident. Like when I don't put my stuff away and a friend comes over, sees 20 pedals strewn across the floor and asks "what is this stuff?" they end up with an answer that is much more than they bargained for. Members aeonrevolution
I had two friends over once, neither of which played an instrument, and they saw my mess of pedals in front of the amp. They said the same thing, "Whoaaa....what are all these for?"So I decided instead of naming everything out I just turned the amp on and let them click stuff around and {censored} with it while I played Everyone that doesn't play an instrument seems to think the phaser is the coolest thing I find the delay and overdrives the coolest imo...
