Members Hulston Prickle
I know this is a rediculous question, and hey, I've played guitar for 15 years and I know there's no substitute for the real thing. Here's the issue: I have a 6L6 amp I'm very happy with for cleans, and the distortion is okay, but no where my dream dirty amp of a Mesa Stiletto. What's a good overdrive pedal with a British flavor that will sound good into a 6L6 based amp? Thanks!
Members hurleysurf
I've never heard or played it, but Radial Tonebone has that Hot British tube pedal that's supposed to turn any clean amp into a Marshall. Bold statement, but you could look into it! Could be what you're looking for.
Members Blucifer Hazelnut
I tried the Vox Cooltron Bulldog in a store recently. I think that one sounded good, clearly a Brit overdrive tone. It had tons of gain. Too much for my taste, but still excellent sound. B.

Members spoonie g
Menatone King of the Britains has it by far more than any pedal I've ever heard.

It's a Traynor Custom Valve. I know they can take EL34s with a fair amount of modding. I really like the 6L6 clean tone, though. I was hopping I could cop the British tone without buying two amps. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I want to know more about this pedal! I have a Traynor YCV80 6L6 amplifier, and the the amp distortion just isn't cutting it anymore. It's got a fantastic clean, and sounds amazing with my strat even with just a simple SD-1 with the gain at 1 and the volume at 10. The lead channel, isn't cutting it anymore however. I've got an MCR Distortion +, which I never use, because I can't stand the thing, and a Shannon Distortion pedal that sounds great, but really only at lower gain. I recommended the Menatone King pedal, and watched the Musictoyz video, and thought it sounded pretty good. I suppose what I'm looking for is the 'Marshall in a box' grail that no one can ever really get right. I've heard good things about the BJF EMDM, but I felt it was more Vox like than Marshall. Any opinions on the situation?
