Members PFDarkside
What has been, in your experience, the raunchiest non-sputtering fuzz? (No E13 or FF style gating, just pure sound). Would it be something along the lines of a bee-ba or Mosrite? Something along the lines of Satisfaction, Spirit in the Sky and In a Gadda Da Vidda and beyond... Members Wyatt
Well, your post is sorta contradictory. First you mention the FF as a gating fuzz, which it is not, it can sustain for a long time and is smooth and organic. Gating is when the fuzz (and output altoghetther) cuts out after a short while. And then you list songs as "non-gated" like Satisfaction which was recorded with a Maestro Fuzztone, a fuzz with absolutely no sustain what so ever, so the gating is extreme. The Mosrite would be out for the same reason. Hoenstly, most people go to the FF from these for a more even tone. You'll probably be interested in a Jordan Bosstone. Very '60's, but very saturated with lots of sustan, sorta of the bastard love child of a Big Muff and Fuzztone. The Voodoo Lab clones were inconsistant, but mine was good and thick. Very "Spirits in the Sky." The VL Bosstone was replaced with their Superfuzz (no relation to the Univox) which is the Bosstone circuit with a lot of extra knobs for tweaking. Members voerking
i have been really happy with my Euthymia Crucible Si. it has massive amounts of fuzz on tap. it may, however, not be buzzy enough for the tone you seek.

Members Blungo
The meanest non-gated fuzz i know of is the Bee-Baa or Barge Concepts clone. I'm pretty sure inna-gadda was a Mosrite fuzz, which kinda sounds like a gated bee-baa.

Sheesh, it's like everyone quit reading my post halfway through. The VL is the only clone I know of. Real Bosstones can still be found for $150 or so if you look, so it's not like there is a huge demand for clones yet. I like the original's plug-in design for lapsteel, puts the controls for the Bosstone at my fingetips along with the regular Vol and Tone knobs. That's definately got some gating going on with my Tele pickups. Sorry for the confusion. I'm looking for something smooth and sustaining like a Fuzz Face, but with the raunchyness of the above mentioned songs. I'll check out eBay for the Bosstone, thanks. Members phyrexia
What fuzz is there in In A Gadda Da Vida? I must have listened to that song a thousand times and I can't think of where the fuzz is. I think you could get what you're looking for with some E13 pedals...I have low fuzz experience but I can get a very large variety of fuzz sounds by using combinations of the pedals in front of my amp.
