Sonic Maximizer

They were originally developed for live sound and sound reproduction use. Back in school we had a monsterous audio system with a Crown power amp and two humongous JBL speakers (18" woofers... it was used in the music room). The rack system also had a Sonic Maximizer on it. From what I could tell, I gave a little EQ boost in the bass (oomph frequencies) and treble (clarity frequencies) without being muddy or tinny. It seemed to add a little compression as well.

I think they took that concept and put it in a stomp box for guitar and bass.

this topic comes up quite frequently and usually someone has a barney over what it actually is. apparently it adjusts high and low frequencies so they hit your ear at the same time making it all sound clearer, thats what some say. others say its just EQ and is useless crap, others swear by it. either way its subtle and goes at the end of your signal to add clarity really. not an essential effect but worth trying if you want that extra 1% maybe.
