Members YourHerodDGC
that's almost identical to the moogerfooger ring mod, minus the LFO. so an input, a frequency generator, a way to mix the two, volume and output. I can't find the schematic for the moog one.
Members vigor&kandor
i have the scheme for the Electro Harmonix Frequency Analyzer if you want it.
Members vigor&kandor
this one runs off 110v AC and needs a transformer though. but then it gets stepped down and regulated to 15v.
Members YourHerodDGC
hmm. i found that one. not quite what i'm looking for. I'll probably just have to do a little more research and do my own.
Members vigor&kandor
do you wand a Green Ringer scheme?? i have also seen a scheme for a passive ring mod, but you have to add another signal from something.
Members YourHerodDGC
actually, what i'm looking for is exactly like analog man's black cat ring modulator, only i'm going to use something different for the frequency generator. Members vigor&kandor
i have never seen the black cat ring mod. good luck in your search. i have an old '74 electro harmonix ring mod that just keeps humming. i cannot find the problem. it happens even without a signal going into it. sorry i could help you too much. Members YourHerodDGC
I got an idea for this crazy project last night. I lost sleep over it (out of excitement). Hopefully i'll have it done by the end of the summer.

Members vigor&kandor
its actually not as complicated as i thought it was.
Members YourHerodDGC
Yeah, that's what i'm finding. I still have a lot to learn about how to do this, but i just have to make sure i do it. esentially, i want to combine two sound sources together, one of them being my guitar. Now that i think about it though, i might want to combine them more like a vocoder than a ring mod. But the more i think about that, the more i wonder if i could do both and have a switch to toggle between them. Once this semester's over (in about a week or two), i'm going to start experimenting. I'll certainly let HC know how it goes.
Members PFDarkside
Have you seen the Alesis ModFX series Vocoder? (Not the name, it's something close) It uses two inputs and basically applies the envelope of one to the other's signal. You can find them for like $40... If that's the effect you are going for.
