See, my solution is just to make a huge Patton army so everyone thinks we still have an army when we really don't. We would still enlist troops, but they would do public service work instead of fighting.

The cost of inflatable tanks and planes is much lower than that of actually ones. We'd save so much money. And if a world war III started, we would just stay neutral long enough to build some planes and tanks.

And who'd believe us if we tried to bluff like that again, Yellowcake?

[it's no secret the early "christian" fathers fueled the destruction of the Library of Alexandria where most of the ancient teachings were kept. There are many references to the remains of the library being spriited away underneath today's Vatican where they remain under lock and key.]

I think an inflatable army is one of the best idea's I've heard in a long time.

Most countries in the world have a substantial national debt; just as most people have personal debt.

The problem can come from the interest payments which are, right now, manageable but may become unsustainable in the future.

Or they may not. This isn't something I am too concerned about.

If we continue with weak dollar policy you should be.

A weak dollar policy has some advantages as far as decreasing the trade defecit, but with china latching their currency to ours it doesnt make much difference.

In the long term it will also raise intrest rates, especially for foreign borrowing... What will we do when china does release their currency from ours... Treasury bonds wont look so attractive anymore.

I would posit he's already "spent" the USD/T-Bills on this past trip and if the USD drops to pennies Boeing and Gates will have to honour the contracts. Chinese are anything but stupid - can't say the same for that group in DC at the moment.

On the "sky is falling crowd" there is a bit of "truth" in their beliefs - albeit twisted all out of context. The ancients had a tradition whereby at the change of each zodiac sign in the precessional cycle, they would change their symbolism accordingly. If you go back in history you'll see there was a period when the Bull was the prevelant symbol, the crab, etc. When we hit the "christian" era the sign changed to picies and the popes outfit made to resemble a fish - his hat in particular is an open fish's mouth. These changes are supposed to occur every 600-odd years and the period after the "christian" was marked by Mohamud/Muslim. If the church of rome had not usurped the ancient teachings, the Muslim faith would be the currently accepted one. The next change is slated for 2011 at which time "christianity" should pass the torch to the next crowd - whoever that may be - but since they didn't honour the change around 600 CE chances of them doing it this time around are slim to none. Most people are not even aware this is what's supposed to happen. They call it the end of the world but it's really the end of their belief system.

This is the reason they are so much trouble to us, they enjoy benefits of capitalism but the hard and fast rules are gov control of all business (including currency) in the form of communism. It is the best of both worlds, they are building the worlds largest middle class (the dream of communism), plus the world uses them as their labor base so who is going to cut off production that is needed to pay off debt. All in all, we need china more then china needs us (in a pure economic system sense) and that is dangerous.

Do we care though, not really. Try to collect, and we'll break this world right open and that no one wants. oops, I mean no one other then those bible bangers who thing that the end of the world is coming
:freak:

I see what your saying, but China does not have a monopoly on cheap labor. There is a lot of places to go to get something cheap. Right now, China is the place. But there is India, Indonesia, South America with tons of cheap labor who with the right enticement, could replace China. At least for the US.

true, but how many are communist countries. It is not all about labor, but we have to look at the big picture of what china is. It is the logical progression of communism that is immune to the most part of the control devices that captialist use, like the imf. We can't devalue their wang (sp?) because it is outside of our known economic system and treatise. This is, including their largest labor force that is price controlled down below all others is what is the real power. Sure you could go to india, but india is capitalist and the wage value is controlled by the market, not so in china. and there is alot of those immunity that is built into their system.

Also you talk about them eating dirt, well ya. That makes them more powerful, they can go back to eating dirt and hold power because they have held that power since they been eating dirt. WE can't do that with our system, we never ate dirt. Hell eating dirt, that's their deal, they believe in the social theory that is communism and have perfected it's econmic system with injection of capitalism but still with the heart and mind of communism. They really have shown the world that their system can work, and does. It shows with their 10% growth each year for last decade. No other country can give us those return compared to the countries you name and some of which are becoming socialist (capitilist drop outs) as we speak.

I just want to say that their human right program there is very bad, so I'm not saying lets become like china. I just recognize their power system as being a very very interesting development in the world today.
