Members Stratotone
Ok, my band gigs most weekends, but it's local stuff so I don't really need a hardshell case. I bought a decent small pedalboard, filled it up pretty fast, but now I want to add more pedals and have run out of room. I'm looking at three options: http://www.tonebone.com/tbone-boneyard.htm $129 + cost of keyboard gig bag pedaltrain pro (with softcase) - $149 Build my own (to fit keyboard gig bag) I like the way the pedaltrain can be switched around, but I also like the boneyard's simple design and the way things are hidden better - it looks more professional. If I build my own, it will likely be similar to the boneyard, but I'm also considering messing with acrylic for a clear top. Yeah, I'm a sick puppy. advice? Members hbar
I would think that even for local stuff, you'd want a case. I mean, if your board is being moved at all, it would benefit from being protected. That is all I have to say about that.

I know, I'm runnin' with the devil, but I carry 6 guitars to gigs and wouldn't be able to fit everything in my vehicle with hardshell cases. Members hbar
Sounds like maybe solving pedalboard issues shouldn't be your #1 priority. I'm just saying is all I'm saying. You know what I'm saying?
Members whowasthursday
A clear acrylic top says "awesome." ...Unfortunately, it also says "steal me and my contents right now."

Then again, I don't toss my gear around, and I'm the only person who handles my stuff. If I was touring nationwide, and I had roadies dumping my gear into a trailer then I'd worry more about HSCs. Members hbar
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant that if you took a guitar or two less, you might have the requisite room. But hey, if it's not an issue, then it's not an issue. I say build your own. It's the case part that gets tricky on a DYI board. You should be able to build exactly what you want with minimal cost/effort.

And considering doing it in clear acrylic for the ultimate in weirdness. Pete
Members sense_of_henry
You could build a riser for your current board.
Members ZJD
I'd say build it yourself if you can. That way you know exactly how much room you'll need for pedals, cables, tuner, etc.
Members Stratotone
Here's what I have now (before my orgy of extra pedal buying): I got the dimensions of the BoneYard, it seems like it will fit. Using Adobe Illustrator, I measured all my pedals and made a template - it will fit pretty well, with room for about 5 more 'boss' sized pedals. If I build my own, it will be boneyard dimensions probably, so I can use a keyboard gig bag. I appreciate all the good feedback, thanks and keep em coming! I drilled 5 holes - used epoxy to mount a daisy chain power wire in one, and two jacks for front of amp in/out and also fx loop in/out so I can have everything wired and just plug into the sides.
