Members (((echo)))
i'm thinking about getting one of those five or seven guitar stands but wanted to make sure they're ok with nitro finishes since i've heard some of the stands out there have foam that chemically interacts with nitro leaving black marks in the finish. anyone know for sure? Members karmacowboy67
I wasn't aware of this and I have 2 nitro-guitars in a Warwick 5-stand. Oh, well, so far everything is shiny, then again, they've only been there 6 months tops.
Members (((echo)))
well i don't know if it happens with these but i've heard of it with single stands that use this black foam.. since these 5-7 stands use what looks like the same type of foam i want to be sure i won't have a problem with it
Members Arjae
I had a 7 guitar stand with the black foam tubing and it made a nice coloration change on the binding of the neck on my Les Paul. I'd stay away from them. I was pissed when I noticed it. I have switched to the wall hangers that have the guarantee that the tubing will not affect the neck where it touches. They have been great thus far and have opened up a lot of floor space.
Members (((echo)))
ahh that's what i was afraid of.. i'm not worried so much about the bodies since the one guitar is black and the other has black edges (sunburst) though who knows if another color would show up instead. i definitely don't want any trouble with the necks and binding though i'm not a big fan of wall hangers so i'll have to figure something else out or just keep them in their cases
Members Arjae
The one I had I got a good three years ago or so. They might have changed the foam from then until now. Check the manufacturers' websites and see what they say about it as far as their claims that it will not mark the finish. I think most of them mention it in their advertising these days. Some even have guarantees. Or email their customer service. It is a shame that something so useful can destroy a guitar's finish. But yeah, my Les Paul definitely got hit by it. The binding turned dark right where it rested against the tubing.

Members Arjae
Here is their contact info. Send them an email and ask about the foam and their guarantee.http://www.warwickrockbag.com/index.php?cccpage=rb_contact&set_rb_category=0 Hey Olle....... do you have any necks with binding? It was only the binding on my LP that was affected. The finish on the bodies of all my guitars was untouched.

Members karmacowboy67
Fearing the worst after reading the last few posts I almost ran to check my Les Paul. No miscoloring of any kind, at least not due to the stand anyway. I'll keep mine there for now, I too have a problem with wall hangers.
Members Wyatt
Well, the stands I had the problem with are the ones with the yellow-ish surgical tubing. Turn the nitro clear coat yellow where it cintacted the guitar. -Y.
Members FLYING V 83
I keep my guitars in their cases at home. I have a Rockstand 5-guitar stand for gigs, but I never lean the guitars neck sides against the foam. Been using it for 4 years now and no marks.
