Where to put my compressor?

I've been playing all day and I like it like this:

Barber Tone Press > Keeley TS-9 > Keeley BD-2 > Boss CE5 > Boss DD3

This TP sounds so good, I am very happy. I can't stop playing it. With the RK TS-9 it sounds so sweet, I've been playing old Cream songs all day and driving my wife crazy. I like the TS-9 so much that I just bought another one on ebay for $100 with free shipping! I'm gonna replace the BD-2 with a second TS-9, one for a bit of grit and the other for mega dist, almost fuzz like tone. I'm really having a blast with these pedals. The Tone Press is just what they say it is, a compressor for people who hate compressors. I can only tell that it's on because the sound is sweeter and the sustain is greatly enhanced. No squash or funny noises or anything. Strike a chord hard and it sounds very even, no squash, just smooth. It's hard to explain, but I know what I like.

Hey JB, what other comps did you try out or were you considering?

I can't decide between:

-Barber Tone Press
-Demeter Comp-1
-Diamond Comp
-Keely Comp
-Analogman Bi-Comp
-T-Rex CompNova
-Toadworks Mr. Squishy
-Maxon CP101

If I could just narrow the field to 3 to try out, I just started my search however.

straight up...

trey anastasio puts his tube screamers right after his wah and whammy pedals.. the Ross compressor is on the rack way way after the ts-9s...

thats the way i do it.. and it sounds much better than using the keeley first.. IMO

unless im missing something...:thu:

I had an old Ross compressor a while back and then a Dyna comp. I recently tried a Keeley and it was really nice, but it had the same problems that the others had. There was a kind of click, or pop or something when I struck the strings and the signal got squashed at the begining of the attack. It sounded unnatural to me. There is none of that with the Tone Press. Hit a chord hard and the attack is very even and smooth, no funny noises, very natural sounding. The only way you know you are playing through a compressor is the sustain is greatly increased. It doesn't squash your signal, it just smooths it out really nice. I can't say enough nice things about this thing. Go buy one. For $139 from the manufacturer, it's an insanely good deal.

Exactlly!
I like to iron out my tone as I leave my compressor on always.
Doing this allows me to put it after my noise gate and not have to worry about bringing up noise also, gives me a consistent clean level going to the amp...

those would be the ones i would struggle between.

for softer compression:

tone press, diamond

demeter i don't know

and for more compression:

keeley or analogman
