I think it is a really cool fuzz, its just not for me. Great modern fuzz tone, good for industrial, shoegaze , or general heaviness....it doesn't handle chords probably only 2 notes at once. Has some noticeable upper octave harmonics especially past the 12th fret. The 2 band EQ can yield a variety of tones.

The clean boost is really nice and loud as {censored} and the EQ works with the boost as well. I think I would hold onto it if I didn't need cash, because I think they will continue to go up in value.

2nd: how is the clean boost? does it stay clean the whole range or just to the half of the boost for example?

well its a clean boost so it stays clean, but whether it causes your amp to breakup is another story. also I wouldn't recommend taking the level past noon, it is deafening.

hm.. i see. now what you are saying is the clean boost is really clean (as long as teh amp is clean) and can be adjusted via the eq section + sounds quite good on its own.

&

the fuzz can't handle more than 2 notes.

you've got a pm! ;)

mode 1 is warm and fuzzy and has an upper octave sound above the 12 fret or with neck pickups. Listen to Orgy's main distortion tones for an example

mode 2 is more a scooped sound. listen to the end of deftones "around the fur"

mode3 the clean boost is super loud and the bass and treble can be tweekededed

Yeah, it's a nasty bugger when it wants to be. That's my old FZ2 you're talking about!

If anyone is wondering what the Electrokraft Tonebox does, here's a brief description:

The Tone box is a passive, varitone-style EQ/filter pedal. It has five frequency settings, another knob that sweeps through them, and a switch that affects the overall tonality of the sound. Because the pedal is passive, it requires no power to operate. However, this aspect of the design allows for volume loss at more exreme settings.

The Ibanez FZ5 60's Fuzz is a budget-priced knockoff of the Electro~Harmonix Big Muff Pi. It is similar to the Black Russian version, but is gainier, fuzzier, and a bit more harsh sounding.
