Members murphj1
looking for the most open uncompressed overdrive? i don't need alot of gain, low to medium. i usually run tube amps clean just were there starting to get warm. all the overdrives i've used takes away from my tone with muddy compression. i just ordered a cot50, so i'm looking for a lower gain box to get me from here to there. and also plays well with the cot. any ideas? Members Headlow
I would wait until you try the COT because it really does clean up great from the guitars volume, so that may be an option, although I do recall you saying that you prefer not to do this. The COT can also be set up with very little gain........great crunch.

Members d0zerz
Fulldrive2 ...new ones are very versatile. On a budget? Buy my rocktron austin gold ...50 bux shipped. Very transparent and you can barely get a compressed crunch by cranking the gain up all the way. ...I usually had it on halfway and still, very subtle dirt addition. The thing's almost a clean boost ...I was using it as one anyway...till the FD2 replaced it
Members fatbackribs
Pro-Analog Dual-Drive - with no mid humps or compression, it's a driven amp's best friend.

Members DJLantz444
I use my RC Booster with it. Sounds like a tube amp breaking up.

Members papa taco
The red channel of a ZVex Super Duper has the least compression out of any overdrive I've ever used. I've got a Liquid Sunshine too, and it doesn't have a lot of compression either, but the Super Duper has way less than that even. taco

I love it as a boost, but when I set the SD up for OD through a clean amp I find it a bit harsh. You're right about the lack of compression though. But with a darker amp and guitar it's awesome. IMO. There's some that agree with me and some that don't. It's really rig dependent of course, and taste dependent too. I don't care for it with my Mesa Blue Angel (a bright amp) but it was killer with my old Dr Z Z28 (a warmer amp). taco

The sustain and comp you get are the amp's tubes being pushed. (yes, this isn't meant to be a bedroom pedal.)

Members murphj1
hold on a minute man, no one is talking about a cranked amp here. were talking about low gain od. and everyone knows amps/speakers compress when pushed hard. i was just looking for the least amount of compression in a od box. thank you to all the guys who mentioned the boost pedals, i've always been the happiest with good boost pedals at accomplishing this sound. also i don't have alot of play time with zvex. but they always seemed pretty uncompressed. although i was looking for more of a traditional od type. anyone try a barber ltd. i've heard good things.
