Members LoneStarGuitar
I should have a Barge Concepts BB_1 in the mail within a few days, but was wondering about some other pedals:RI BlenderRI ScramblerRI Tone Machine I already have a fuzz that I would consider "classy," so respectful, well mannered fuzz tones are out of the question.Looking for pedals that will peel paint and induce acid flashbacks, and hpefully work decently with P-90's and mini hums. SO, if you dont mind, help a brotha out. I would love some comments regarding these pedals.

The tone machine RI doesn't seem to have won so many votes. Reissues aside, there are also some ace clones you can get of all three of those bad boys. Members Blungo
I guess i'm a bit biased, but here's my opinion: Never played a scrambler. I've played through an original Fender Blender, I own a Bee-Baa. The BB-1 is right up there in terms of over the top "evil" sounding fuzzes. Your BB-1 will ship tomorrow (thur.). p.s. Had a RI tone machine, great fuzz, very thick, great octave. Still doesn't touch the Bee-Baa/BB-1. Apples and oranges...

Apples and oranges..? you are talking to a guy who owns seven phasers and wants more of different flavors! I just want a collection of evil and disgusting fuzz. the DMM should be out tomorrow around lunchtime providing some jackass doesnt spill any hazardous materials within 50 miles of my work and calls us.. I'm glad to hear they're as evil sounding as the originals. Who makes an affordable Tone Machine clone? $199 is a bit too rich for my blood these days. Members camerashake
Hey Blungo- was yours the BB-1 that needed a new set of labels? If so, I know I promised them to you a while back, and it's obviously slipped my mind. Sorry 'bout that one. I've got to fire up the printer sometime in the next couple of days. If you still need them, I'll make you a set of labels and ship them to you or to LoneStar. Let me know. geoff@bargeconcepts.com

The Blender is second in my "evil" rating.Way different than the Bee-Baa. The blender is more octavey. Smoother is not the right word, but not as outright hairy as the Bee-Baa/BB-1. Members carlygtr56
I got thr RI Fender Blender and Ampeg Scrambler. Highly recommended. they both kick ass, IMO. I also got a RonSound Over-Easy Fuzz (Scrambler clone, a RonSound Flender (Fender Blender clone.....and an Axis Skrambler. Forget the Foxx Tone Machine RI. You can't even switch the octave by foot. I got a RonSound Stone Machine, a clone..........and the Retroman Wolftone Machine. Both kick ASS!!!!

I've been pretty happy with the BB on the rare occassion I get to use a bass amp - but if it's not working for other people, i'd like to know. Members ck3
I am another former BB-1 owner. I found it just as thick, demented, and heavy as others have made it out to be, but could not successfully incorporate it into my rig. The impedance of my amp modeler reduced the output level of the pedal and my noise gate couldn't tame the operating noise at 18V when the sustain parameter was set at my preferred level. If I ever get a real amplifier, I definitely intend to give the BB-1 another go. The General Guitar Gadgets Scrabbler is a nice and affordable alternative to the RI. I used to have one and liked the way that it cascaded with other dirt. The Scrabbler sounded alright on its own, but didn't produce enough fuzz by itself to earn a place on my board at the time that I traded for it. The Danelectro DJ13 French Toast Octave Distortion is the only Foxx Tone Machine approximation that I have used. I thought that it was pretty nifty, but became annoyed by the fact that the DJ13 amplified ground loop noise and had to let it go. I have played through the MMFX clone of the Fender Blender and the offical Reissue. The MMFX Fender Bender's two modes had more consistent (and excessive) volume levels than the RI, but the licensed Fender version sounded better IMO. I almost regret parting with my RI Blender, but have found the heavily-modded General Guitar Gadgets Ring Dinger that I got in echange for it quite useful. It allows me to transform any dirtbox into a gnarly octave fuzz.

Members houseofglass21
I had a ProphecySound BeeBaa clone and hated it. It didn't have that heavy "evil" sound every one talks about. It was a pretty tame distortion sound, not very good at all. That past experience is what has deterred me from trying the BargeConcepts clone, though I am curious about it. Members madhatter
I'm selling my Scrambler RI but it is a pretty sick fuzz. My only knock would be the high price but if you can find a used one at a nice price in excellent condition with box and manual I say go for it. Honestly though it is a very cool pedal, without the octave blended in you can get some nice fat fuzz tones, but turn it up and you're well into paint peeling territory. I almost ended up getting one of the 'basic' models, but Prophecysound folded around the time of the transaction.

How much fuzz can the RI produce? As you may have read, the clone that I owned was practically an octave overdrive.

I think I bought it off of agentcooper2001 who bought it off of Devi Ever who bought it off of someone else and so on...that pedal went around the block more than a few times which leads me to believe I wasn't so wrong in thinking it didn't sound so hot. Members LoneStarGuitar
bump da bump let us hear more regarding the clones of these pedals. the Axis Skrambler and that Wolf Tone by Retroman sound like the sorts of things that will beautifully destroy my signal. The Axis is off the radar, but his Skrambler (and I'm sure his other stuff) is excellent. The Wolf Tone is sick.....the octave-up is switchable. Retroman makes great stuff as well.
