We have Ludlow Street Guitars, Matt Uminov's and Carmine Street Guitars in lower Manhattan and I've tried pedals in all of them without buying. Is it really that differenent on the West Coast? Members musicbox
Theres a local store in vancouver that lets you do it. Me and a buddy casually walked in and asked to play some zvex they had in stock..clearly we arent going to buy any for 400 bucks a pop, but the guy was cool and let us have a go. They had lots of great vintage pedals and amps..and I ended up walking home with an ibanez de-7.
Members TIKILOCKEDOUT
Sorry ... EVERY music store I have ever been to has always let you play the effect in the amp room or wherever before you buy it. If they don't let you try before you buy tell em to {censored} emselves. Members t_e_l_e
i leave a store immediately if they don't let me have a try what i want to try. i heard this week from a friend who went to a bigger store in our area were i bought an amp and a guitar and they were realy nice to me. he wanted to try a boogie single rect or triple rect (i don't know which) and the sale guy came up to him and said "you don't need to try it, you cannot afford it anyway" before he said hi to him or anything else. i guess i never going to buy anything from them any more. good stores have good service, good manners and let you try anything what they have in the store. asking first in a nicely way is a good behaviour of a customer

I've gone down several times to try out Bad Cats, Riveras, Fulltone pedals, Tom Anderson guitars and they are great to work with. Very knowledgable too. I haven't bought anything but accessories there yet, but my next couple of purchases will definately be from there. I wish they had red witch, barber, H.B.E, more zvex (there was only one there when I tried out pedals last week).
Members psalt_phallow
I would like to see pedals OTHER THAN boss and digitech myself. Although they may also be in the line up they should not be all there is. In my local area you're lucky to even see a non boss pedal, well some dano's used and for the MSRP. Members protoge x
i have yet to be in a guitar shop that told me i could not try anything out. that is a horrible buisness practice. by doing that they are losing possible income. good businessmen understand that keeping the customer happy will eventually lead to the customer buying something. but anyway i would love to see a guitar shop that had brands likered witch, subdecay, moog, zvex, keeley, if i saw a store with all that kind of stuff, i don't think i'd ever want to leave. as long as they didn't kick me out for not buying anything
