Members Delvi
Hi guys! Do someone knows which are the differences between the original ring modulator of Electro-Harmonix and its reissue? I found huge difference in the sound between the Deluxe Memory Man vintage and the reissue, since the operational chips are different (and the old Panasonic sound much better imho) so I would like to know if there is the same difference for the Frequency Analyzer as well. Thank you!
Members Fender&EHX4ever
Bump on this old thread. I keep seeing the vintage units on eBay, and they usually sell for less than the newer models. Being that I love vintage stuff in general, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the vintage FAs.
Members Howard Davis
The modulator chip used in the VINTAGE Frequency Analyzer is no longer made, and there is no replacement available. The reissue is an upgraded design, and if a chip goes it can be replaced. Members NITEFLY182
The reissue is among the finest ring mods on the market if not the finest and best sounding.
Members WarofGhosts
Yeah they sound pretty much the same to me. Funny you Mention the Panasonic BBDs as EH still uses NOS Panasonic BBDs in their Memory Man (unless they JUST switched over)
Members SpectralJulian
The RI frequency analyzer is grrrrrreat! DEVO had a vintage one, and mine can get DEVO sounds.
Members Seth Carmody
The vintage units are smaller but I bet they're noisy as {censored}. That's the gamble you take with any vintage EHX device. As I understand it most the the RI have been reworked to decrease noise.
