Members stereotypy
well i most of the time i see a vox pedal here around on boards it is the v847. but the v848 is just slightly more in price, true bypass etc.. so what's up? i would pay the 15 - 25 dollars more to get the v848 over the standard model in a second.. but maybe i miss something. do they maybe sound differently enough to prefer the v847???? in fact a true bypass wah is not a bad idea... though... Members Jeremy Skrenes
In addition to being true bypass, the V848 has a different inductor, I believe. So the sound is different between the two. Some people prefer one to the other.
Members stereotypy
so what is the difference tone wise?? it is really weird because i always thought the v848 is the better one.. but even the votes points in another direction THOUGH it is not true bypass! Members squareking
I had the 847 for a long time. TB'd it and loved the tone. Recently upgraded to an 848 and there's really not much of a contest between the two. Besides the easy TB mod, I just like the quality of sound of the 848 over the 847. And it feels much more solid. 9v jack is always a plus, too.
Members jog
I had a 847 for a few years. One day I had to give it to repair (a loose connection that I couldn't find), and I bought a 848 to use in the meantime. When the 847 returned I immediately sold the 848, as it sounded harsh and thin compared to the 847... cuts through better tho.
Members mangojeep66
the tone of my 847 is nice, but I don't think it's particularly "sweepy". I have to look for the sweet spot on it. However, I tb'd it my self and swapped out a couple of resistors. I think if you could get a used 848 at a decent price get it. Not hard to find a used 847 at great price...they are very common.
