Members Vatican
I am using batteries. I don't want to run them down. Owing to the cramped space on the pedal board, there isn't a lot of room to move the 1/4 inch connectors in and out of the effects. So, when I unplug a 1/4 inch plug from an effect, I leave it in a little bit. The light on the effect goes out, and it appears as though I've shut off the circuit, but is it possible the circuit is still alive?
Members Headlow
I dont think so. I do the same thing.
Members papa taco
Ya know what else you can do? If you have a daisy chain for a 9volt adapter, you can plug them into the effects to bypass the battery instead of unplugging the patch-cables. Then when it's time to play, unplug the daisy chain (you can get one from Boss or Visual Sounds) and you're good to go. For effects without an adapter input, you'll just have to unplug the cable though. taco

You don't run an adapter for power. You don't even need an adapter. You just get one of those daisy chains (that would normally attach to an adapter) and plug them into the adapter inputs of your pedals when not in use. When something is plugged in there it over-rides the battery and therefore the battery doesn't drain. Get it? I had a small board I gigged a couple of years ago on a tiny piece of wood that featured a Boss TU2, Keeley Comp, ZVex Super Duper and a Maxon AD80 all running on batteries. Just so I didn't have to unhook patch cables I took a Boss daisy chain and plugged them into the TU-2, Keeley and MAxon. The ZVex was first in the chain and would only have my guitar cord plugged into it when getting ready to play. taco

And in return, I love you. I guess I'm lazy. I got tired of unplugging patch-cords. It's way easier to just quickly plug in a daisy chain. Also, less wear and tear on the patch-cords. And it allows you to cram it all into a tighter area without concern for easy removal. taco
Members Teahead
What Taco said. I use batteries for everything and just stick a daisy chain into the 9v jacks when I'm finished. It cuts the battery out of the circuit and is just as effective as unplugging the 1/4" at doing so. The One Spot daisy chain is right angled and perfect for your needs. This was far more to the point than my post. I admire and appreciate Mr Head for this.
Members jonny guitar
I approve of this method that Taco speaks. I do that with my wah (not with a full daisy chain but a single) instead of unplugged the cords.
