Fulltone Super Lead

I'm either going to call it Super-Lead or GT350...but regardless, I've finished the prototype for a new Hi-Gain Distortion with 3 Band EQ that's really good sounding! The EQ, particularly the Midrange control, is very flexible. Sonny Landreth is beta-testing a version, more news when available.

It cleans up extremely well with the volume control, has a ton of gain/sustain, and has a great picking feel, the most Tube-like I've played, including the many pedals with tubes I've tried.

Because people will ask, here's an overview comparison:

Fulldrive2= a Fendery type smoother, less dynamic sound that tames a harsh amp, sounds good with most anything.

OCD= more of a Vox type OD/Distortion, with lots of lows, highs, and not alot of Midrange. Great with many amps, but not a good match with folks who set their amps trebly.

Super-Lead= excels at everything from Overdrive to very Hi-Gain lead tones...WITH the addition of a good Bass control, a good Treble control, and a stellar Midrange control that allows this pedal to be voiced anywhere in the mix...MANY great lead voicings are easily dialed in! Smooth flat EQ'd sustain to (dare I say) D***** like sounds, to fixed-wah penetrating Midrange. Or (for the first time from me) some good scooped METAL sounds by upping the Highs and Lows and ducking the Mids.

I'm going to keep production small and personal on this one, it's nice to have 17 employees and pay the bills, but I miss the old days and with this project I get to break out the hand-drill, the P-Touch labelmaker (maybe I'll paint it nice?) build and and play each one.No release date is set nor will it be announced, we're moving to a nice new building I just bought, so you'll start seeing these late summer I hope.

Sounds interesting but also sounds a lot like all the claims he has made before with the Distortion Pro. If production is going to be small and unannounced, I can just imagine what the price will be and what they will go for on the second hand market.

He didn't mention if the mids were "haunting"...small numbers, personal MF involvement...should get some primo pricing...it'll be interesting to see what the market will tolerate...

Is it too late for Mike to build a limited edition Fulltone Muff pedal or has that wave passed?
:D

OCD's were fetching in excess of $300 on eBay for quite some time. I can see these getting even more. I wonder how he will in fact go about selling them. Will his top dealers get a few at a time or will he sell them direct? But yeah, if they are going to sell from select dealers, then $300 is probably where you will see them hit. But eBay will be astronomical!

But I really don't do a great deal of pedal speculating;)

Well if MF is gonna whip out the UniBit himself then we'll be paying for his personal time...maybe he's going after the CJOD market...

I posted this a while back... and I think it's a bunch of BS.

Every time Fuller makes a new pedal, it's the most "tube like" or "amp like" ever. Then he puts out ANOTHER pedal and comes clean about the old ones.

The Distortion Pro now = "one trick pony"... wow, I would have loved to have known that when I ordered mine!

The Fulldrive goes from "transparent" and "natural" to "sounds good with just about anything" (so it's a mid-humpy TS clone that covers up the natural sound of your guitar/amp).

And the OCD is a Vox type distortion with little midrange. Again, a fact that was NOT mentioned upon its release, when it was the be-all, end-all.

And of course, the NEW one, whatever it's called, "excels at everything." Sheesh.

I agree. In fact, you could almost just infer the limited nature of his previous products but the mere existence / suggestion of the new ones--otherwise why make them? Why mess with perfection? While I won't deny that technology changes and that discoveries are always being made, and that because of this it's not unlikely that a person's newest product could very well be his best, it's awfully hard to believe that each new item is the final and perfected iteration of its type, just as the ones the preceeded it were supposed to have been. As for this latest, hearing is believing. If it's actually built, a torrent of hype will doubtlessly follow, including the now mandatory initial stellar reviews (about 10 or so) on HC, and then a period of more honest evaluation during which the truth about it's sounds and capabilities will come out. One good thing: Fulltone is a well-known name, and as such there'll be plenty of people who will want to not only try / buy any new pedal that they make, but also review them. Reviews are sometimes scarce for other, lesser-known maker's products, which kind of leaves you guessing.

Yeah, I just grind my teeth awaiting the inevitable glowing reviews, having been burned before by the D-Pro. The Fuller hype machine really gets me down. But whatever, some people need to get a new OD every month, and this will certainly make them happy.

Carry on, I'll take my bitching elsewhere.
