Members Hessian
I'm looking to spend as little as possible here - I'd like to have the ability to punch in with a footswitch, and it would be cool if it sounded better than playing along with one boombox and recording on another. Tascam?

Members CS
I've had the 424mkIII since 2000. The mixer section is excellent. You can record up to 6 inputs to 4 tracks. You have to juggle about but it does mean that you can record a drum kit or a complete band rehearsal (within reason) . You can also use the spare tracks for a sampler or sequencer. Record quality is ok. It's an excellent sketch pad/songwriting demo machine. My plan was to go into a proper studio at some point and I've never got around to it. Still happy with the Tascam though. Members Headlow
Yeah, I also use the Mklll, although these days mostly just for recording practice. It does have the 'punch in' feature, but its something I've never used.
