Members Redfox777
Or is it just an amp for single coil guitars? Last night, it seems, I narrowed down my amp choices to a HRD or HRDeville (with help from yall). Some of the reviews say that it can be a bit farty with humbuckers. Members jackpotjewell
I have a Hot Rod Deluxe, and I usually play w/ single coils, but I haven't run into any problems w/ using humbuckers either. Just remember, the HR deluxe sounds nothing like a deluxe reverb, and the deville sounds nothing like a twin. I would put their sounds closer to a bassman, without the tube rectifier. Kind of a darker sounding amp. Mine takes pedals really well. It sounds decent on its own, but running into an extension cab, and it sounds really nice. Good amps for the money. Members drmanbear
I agree. Good amps for the money. I had a chance to play live through a Deville for about a year or two. I was using an SG and it sounded pretty good. The only knock I have against them is that I don't remember the EQ controls being very responsive. You had to turn knobs quite a bit to make much of a difference. But again, they're pretty nice amps.
Members Faber
It will work just fine with HBs. But the HRD's reaaly do shine more with fender style instruments/sc's
Members Grueller
the blues deville is much nicer, IMO... more toneful. I say this because it reacts well to anything you throw at it, whereas the hot rods seem a little choosey
Members usa83strat
yes it will work well with hummies. try pluggin into input two if it gets farty, also turn the bass down a bit for hummies, it will still be there just not so boomie
