Members ganesh
I now, after 20 years of waiting, am the proud possessor of a Watkins Mk II Copicat. Trouble is it doesn't work very well. Considering it's older than me that isn't a surprise (I am old, and I don't work too well either). The main gain is there but the gain from the echo isn't. All I can hear is a very fuzzed up and quiet echo. My diagnosis is a dead tube. Searching the schematic it turns out that it takes two 12AX7s (easy to find) and one 6BR3. A what? So the questions are: is there an equivalent for the 6BR3? I can only find references to it on the US ebay, so maybe it's known as something else in Europe? And which tubes would people recommend for the 12AX7s?
Members shipatsea
Weak echo. If you have not put a new tape on yet, first clean the pinch roller heads and demagnetize the heads. Then put new tape on it. when demagging keep the tape like atleast 10 ft away. You can get a kit on ebay for under $40 with a demag gun, pinch roller rubber rejuvinator and cleaning fluid for the heads.
Members ganesh
Thanks: that's worth a try before I start changing tubes. The thing is built like a tank but doesn't look like it's had much attention in the past 20 years or so...
