I just couldnt get that thing to sound any better than a Dano Chicken salad. Couldnt get the heavy throb of a Vibe that heartbeat oomph.

For me, Retroman Ubervibe.

Sweetsound Mojo Vibe is what I was looking for.
but I hear great things about the Retroman Ubervibe as well.

vibe was the modulation that I had to have right
my opinion is that you won't be satisfied until you actually get what you are looking for
don't skimp on the vibe is my mantra
if a modulation effect says it does a vibe, skip it
look for an effect that is made to do vibe, then if if covers other ground, it's a bonus
but for me, I had to have the vibe first and foremost

The elusive Vibe... :)
This is one that I just can't nail down.

Dunlop RotoVibe... Not a bad effect, but not quite a great vibe either.

Dunlop Stereo Univibe... I was pretty happy with this one... nice and phasey. I regret trading this off for something I can't even remember.

Ibanez RC99 Rotary Chorus... It's probably the best chorus I've ever used, all sorts of good useful sounds. The 'rotary zone' settings aren't bad, but just aren't that useful. I still use this on my main board, but it's not the vibe I'm looking for.

I think the next one I'm going to try out is the Fulltone Deja2. The mini is nice, but I like the idea of being able to control the speed in realtime. (BTW, if anyone has one of these for sale, please PM me)

I think I've just been chasing that rotary speaker sound for too long. My prject this summer is building my own. I know I could just go out and buy a leslie or something similar, but I'm pretty handy, and just to tinker I want to see if I can build up a nice one.

Think I'm gonna be watching this thread closely :) Never know when a bit of gear lust will strike

For cheap, the Dunlop Uni-vibe stereo chorus is good. Sounds very authentic. I didn't like the Voodoo Labs Micro-Vibe much. The Red Witch Moon Phaser does a pretty good vibe impression too. The best I've ever used was on the Captain Coconut II. Very three dimensional.

I've only ever played through my vibe, it's a Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe. It smokes! The price is hefty, but you get a nice little trem in the same package. It is a tweaker's dream!! Mayer doesn't get much love around here. I've never used any of his fuzzes, but I guess they are bulky, and overpriced (those seem to be the main complaints). His vibe does get love though. It is a steep price, but it will sound SO much better than the line-6. You may want to check it out.

Another vote here for the Mojo Vibe. If you want it on the ceap and still sound great, check out the Lovepedal Vibe. I have A/B'd one to my Mojo and if I didn't already have the Mojo, the Lovepedal would the one I would get. It sounds every bit as good and actually does some things better in terms of how it sounds with a fuzz. It keeps the low end intact very nicely.

I'm curious as to why the mojovibe would be that much better than the fulltone?

Granted, I've played neither due to lack of opportunity, so I don't really have bias toward either maker.

Is it simply an opinion thing? or is the mojo really a better pedal? Listening to the samples on both websites (not much to listen to on fulltone's site unfortunately), but it sounded like the fulltone was a bit more thick and lush... plus having it all in one box is very handy. I'd have to have the pedal and an expression to get the same use from the mojo.

Thoughts?

BTW, aeroslepperin, you have a PM from me

I currently own a MojoVibe and am borrowing a Lovepedal Magicboy from forumite utterhack.

The verdict is, you can't go wrong with either. If you want simplicity and don't need pedal control of speed, get the Lovepedal. For $150, it smokes any other vibe on the market and holds its own against the Fulltone. Like all the Lovepedals I've played, it's got that special mojo that makes you want to leave it on... and on...

If you've got more cash and want extra features, the Mojo Vibe is wonderful. I think it sounds much better than the Deja Vibe, but these things are subjective. I just think it sounds fatter, fuller, and more like the recordings I love. (And celebrity endorsements by the likes of Trower mean nothing to me-- Trower had great tone before Mike Fuller ever learned to solder.)

it depends on your rig

If you're a low gain player...or a tasteful gain type of player..It just doesn't get any better than the sweetsound.. It's beautiful, warm, lush, pulsing...and of course the cliche transparent...Really brings out the beauty of a good strat

But if you're a high gain player...or a humbucker type of guy...then you might need something that has more effect...Thicker...to cut through the heavy gain... I like to use an EVH phaser to imitate a univibe in the efx loop of my high gain amps

Lots of good pedals out there...just depends on your rig and application

agreed, so point me to some clips of your fave Vibe to back up what you're asserting...like Trower's use of the Fulltone clearly shows.
