Phil O'Keefe
BTW, for the record, Jazz did what he was supposed to do insofar as pulling down something that was "reported" as objectionable, which he apparently agreed was outside of the site rules limits (not everything that gets reported as "objectionable" or "offensive" gets pulled down), and then notified the admins in the HC Office forum. He indicated that he considered it to be a temp ban, and that he never intended it to be forever or anything. I think he simply wanted to make the point that the avatar wasn't acceptable and that Adam shouldn't put it back up again. I don't think he will, and everything is back to normal now, so hopefully in the end, everyone can view it as no big issue. Jazz is correct that ALL forums on HC have their share of problem posts and threads, and even HCEF has had its share. A lot of times, those get pulled by an admin before many people can see them. Which is how we like it. There's a bit of an issue of semantics here over the issue of "moderation". Harmony Central as a whole is moderated by the site admins. There are terms of service and rules that are in effect (pardon the pun) and enforced site-wide, including on HCEF. Forums with dedicated moderators are under those same basic HC rules, but the individual forum moderator has the right to lead their forum, and to specify certain other rules beyond the basic HC site rules and enforce them. For example, on the Bass forum, Jazz has certain rules that he enforces. Some "moderated" forums have a strict "NO OT" policy. Craig's forum has its own guidelines and general rules, as does mine. Which is another reason why the administrators tend to take a more "hands off, except in cases of very serious HC ToS violations" approach to the forums with dedicated / specified moderators. Usually those moderators will take into consideration the desires of their specific sub-community - the people who are regulars on that specific forum. For example, if everyone on Electric Guitars decided they didn't want to talk about politics, or anything else OT, then The Eristic might decide to put that "rule" into place - even though OT posts in and of themselves do not violate the HC ToS. And since E Gtrs is "on topic only", that may have very well been how that came about. Or maybe it was an "executive decision" on The Eristic's part. So while HCEF currently does not have a dedicated moderator, as part of HC, it is subject to moderation as needed by the site admins. Adam, welcome back. Can you do me a favor and email me a copy opf the avatar in question so I can have have a look at it to satisfy my own curiousity?

Members utterhack
Originally posted by Jazz Ad This said, it seems pretty easy to understand that buttocks aren't appropriate. You know, this would have seemed like a perfectly reasonable position before I got used to the Amp forum. The avatar in question didn't technically cross the nudity line. btw, Jazz, I'm not really taking issue with you and appreciate your stepping up to help explain the situation. It's just that now that I've acclimated to the amp forum, I really don't know where the line is drawn, which makes it look pretty arbitrary. Does this mean skr3ddy's avatar has to go too? That would be a shame...
