i reviewed it in like 3 other rc2 threads :D

i have owned the rc20, rc20xl, and now the rc2.

i wanted it for 2 reasons.

1. smaller footprint
2. no preamp/input gain control

it overachieves in both of those purposes. i used to need to boost my chain in the LOOOPER cuz the rc20xl didn't have enough headroom.

it would clip w/ ODs running through....so id have to set the gain lower on the rc20, and bring the level back up after it w/ an eq.

not anymore. the rc2 not only sounds good....it sounds 'better' to my ears, than the rc20xl......mainly due to the lack of preamp. i'm keeping my 20xl for the other features it has......but its not on a board anymore.

pros:
1. small
2. sounds good/no input gain.
3. easy to use.

cons:
1. controls are VERY small. too small
2. you need to double tap to stop, if you don't use a boss fsu
3. the extra drum machine crap can be a bit much, in a live sit.

as long as you know what you're doin, you'll be ok....but id hate to see someone trying to do some sweet atmospherical looping......then suddenly you hear a nice full band blues riff loop coming out of the amp.

I REALLY wish they had left those features off and cut the price a little...but I guess they assumed beginners using them to practice at home would want cheesy drum beats to jam along to.

I forgot about the input gain business...that was annoying on the RC-20 and something they were smart to leave out.

For playback i don't really care that much, but for recording a "tight" line it really sucks... Might as well buy a RC-20, takes even less space not to mention cable on your pedalbourd without using an additional footswitch for stopping recording when tight timelines are required.

It doesn't have any affect on recording loops...just stopping them. You can still get tight loops with that setup.

Whew! I thought he was saying that you had to double-tap to stop RECORDING a loop. I've gotten pretty good at timing loops on my DL4, but I don't think I could handle double-tapping to stop recording / trigger the loop.

God no they wouldn't be that stupid. From what we've been told the switch operates exactly like the RC-20 did...and while I like the way the DL-4 or Headrush work better...its pretty easy to get solid loops with it. The double tapping isn't even that bad once you're used to it.
