Members vteckid22
Hey everybody! I was just wondering what people thought of these amps...I know that they probably wont sound as good as a nice tube amp, but right now im looking for some versatility. Anybody? Members Lorax
Stupid search......This gets talked about ALOT, but no problem. I like them, they can get some really good tones. The cleans, blues & mid gain sounds are great. You can get some good blackface fender, bassman, AC15/30 & Marshall Plexi stuff. Not 100%, but really believable and feels like a tube amp. Fools me and I have played nothing but tube amps for 25+ years. The effects loop take stompboxes very well and they integrate perfectly. I prefer the TLSE options and power - more effects, Patch naming, Channel A/B, better tuner, etc over the VTH head and combos. I hate the VC4 pedal, the VC12 would be a better choice. These are NOT plug & play - there are definitely some tips & tricks to getting a good sound out of them - but once you have those things figured out - you can get about anything...The key is to take some time figuring it out - if you dont have the patience - then look for something else. Members MonkeyKnifeFighter
That video was awesome. Thanks for the gas......JERK! The other guitarist in our band has the older, less-ghey looking model, and when I or our singer dials it in we get some gorgeous tones from it. The danger is that if someone doesn't know tone they can muck it up big time. If you spend the time with her you'll get the goods.~MkF!"For a response in 30 seconds - yell out the window while stopped at a traffic light!" Members TheAtomicJeff
If I wanted a solid state amp complete with modelling and FX, the Vox Valvetronix series is route I'd probably choose.

Members Drumas funk
I was actually considering trading my Crate V-50 in to get a AD60/120VTX. I'm not going to, but just the fact that I actually considered it says something about these amps. One of my gear quests if you will, is to get a Tonelab Se and see how it would be to run it through a nice tube power amp. Like a mesa 50:50 or something similar. They're great amps and I would love to get a AD15VT just for messing around at night.

Members inuitdream
i have an AD15VT. I like the fender blackface tones on it. Kinda sounds tinny sometimes cause of the 8in speaker. I suggest you get the 30watt one with the 10in spkr to maximize its full potential.

I'd like one too - but I've got 2 regular amps, plus a V-Amp2 already... The guy on the video Rob Math is a damn good player - there's a few videos on youtube of him demonstrating on a Marshall MG100DFX combo and he's ripping up the place and it sounds awesome!! Members hb1969
I've had my AD120VT for about 2 or 3 years now and I still think it's a fantastic sounding amp. The fact that it uses tubes in it's circuit in the poweramp stage is a large reason why it sounds so much better than other modelers out there, BUT, there's a few things to consider:I can't speak for the more recent models, but the earlier ones had some reliablity issues, including mine. Managed to get it fixed and so far so good. The DI's aren't as good as Line6 amps. Line6 seem to have the cabinet emulation sussed out more than VOX.The effects section leaves a little to be desired in some areas. The delays and reverbs are nice, but their pedal and modulation sections are a bit under par IMO.Having said all that there's so many good sounds in it. The boutique OD based on the Dumble is so close it's worth it for that alone, unless you can actually afford a real Dumble, in which case you aren't gonna be looking at modelers anyway. PS. the trick to getting them to sound good is to crank up the master and then use the power selector switch at the back to set your overall level - gets the 12AX7's singing. Members The Real MC
Happy AD60VTH owner here. It's a versatile amp provided you have a good guitar. I was a tube amp snob for years, this is the only modeler I've heard that breathes like a tube amp because they modeled BOTH the preamp and the power amp. Few people realize that the tube power amp plays a big impact on the sound, and every other modeler emulates the preamp but not the power amp. FWIW I sold my Boogie MkIIa amp when I got the Valvetronix - considering that the MkIIa ain't no slouch. Yes the Valvetronix amps sound better with the master volume cranked, to get those 12AX7s to sing. The DI is BEFORE the tube power amp, that's where the tone is and they missed the boat. Small wonder it doesn't cut the mustard. I use a H&K Red Box with my Valvetronix (no speaker cab) and it sounds way better than the internal DI. The headphone output isn't bad though.
