Members Bmajor
I'm sure this issue has been addressed ad naseum but with the search function disabled, I'm forced to ask ... I use alot of Delay and Reverb with different settings for different songs. How do you guys deal with this with individual pedals?
Members wacopacco
i dont use reverb, but if i did, i would use my amps reverb DRRI. As for delay, i've got a dl4 and a dd3. Those suit my delay needs just fine. The dl4 gives me 3 presets, plus a tap tempo. And the dd3 i use for a long fast repeating thing.
Members fearofnightmare
I use masking tape w/ diagrams for the settings I use often, so if I tweak knobs, I know where they go again.
Members Bmajor
The DL4 is one of the few I haven't tried but I've been hesitant due to the supposed reliability issues... I like the masking tape idea but tweaking to a Delay setting might be a little tricky.FWIW: I hate TAP tempo.

FWIW: I hate TAP tempo. well i've been gigging with a dl4 every weekend for the past 2 years and have never had a single issue with it. And um, you dont have to use the tap tempo if you dont want. But why do you hate it? You hate being able to tap in the delay time to the song?

I don't place alot of value in HC reviews. .... until I see a pattern. I don't like TAP because I'm a control freak. I need control of delay down to ms. Does the DL4 offer control of Delay other than Tap?

I'm fine with tt not being precise enough, but unless your drummer sets the tempo to the msec, I'm not sure the argument holds too much water. Members hbar
Originally posted by Bmajor Allow me to explain. You set your delay to the msec. I assume that your drummer is quite literally a programmable metronome, or else your delays will never be quite n'sync with the drums There's no way your drummer plays each song at the exact tempo every time. Of course, the same can be said of tap tempo. What tt gets you is that when you hear it drift, you can quickly tap in the reset tempo. Otherwise I guess your tech has to do a quick calculation to see how far out of sync you are, and then navigate through the menus and reset the delay time. Members wacopacco
Originally posted by Bmajor meaning that unless your drummer is playing to a click, chances are the song changes tempo. If your concerned with your delay time being accurate to the millisecond, by the end of the song, i'd be willing to bet that it wont be perfectly in time with your drummer. However if your truly anal about your delay time, i'd suggest the rackmounted tc electronic delay, or some type of delay that actually lets you set the time in numbers, rather than a dial. Members hbar
I thought one of the boss delay pedals (giga delay, maybe?) lets you dial in a precise timing.

Well described..And no, I'm not that anal.

Members Ronsonic B
I think the main answer is to just keep it simple. Just how many different delays do you need to get through an evening. It's also a pretty good excuse to have more than one pedal. My Korg DL-301 has two setting, Hero and 200mS light fattening and the Boss DD5 does its dotted note thing. There's three delay sounds without touching a knob. More than enough for most situations. Same applies to other pedals, each can be a bit more specialized. Ron
