Members NoirAbattoir Posted November 19, 2006 Members Posted November 19, 2006 So, I swapped out the Emenince Legend 112 speaker from my Holland Lil' Jimi combo for a Weber G12H30 clone. The cleans are pretty sweet. It's not nearly as stiff sounding as the Emenince. Then I try a couple of overdrives. Badmonkey: boxey with the mids. Then I try the TS-7: Again, boxy, but with different frequencies. Then I try an SD-1 and there it was: beautiful overdrive tones. Full frequencies in bloom, no more boxiness. So there you have it, if you don't like your overdrive tones, change your speaker. I dunno... Whateva... It's just an observation.
Members SpectralJulian Posted November 19, 2006 Members Posted November 19, 2006 Yeah. I need to take out the Emincence Red White and Blues from my 2x12 (I paired it with a Texas Heat) and put in something nice and warm- like a Cannabis Rex or another Texas Heat. Red, White, and Blues + Blues Driver + fender amp= super ice pick. Just glad I don't play a strat.
Members NoirAbattoir Posted November 19, 2006 Author Members Posted November 19, 2006 I think the Legend 112 was a decent all-around speaker. It does have a special flavor with the overdrive, and the cleans can be a tad stiff, but overall it was pretty versatile. The Red Fang I own is ok when mixed with different speaker, but two of them in a 2x12 was {censored}ing terrible. Thin, fizzy, crappy sounding overdrive tones. I sold the other one and kept this because it paired with the Weber pretty well.
