List gear combinations that don't sound right.

I'll start. Not sure why, but my Fulltone 70 running into a Weber alnico blue dog (whether in open or closed back) sounds crap. It's funny, it's such a nice sounding speaker otherwise. But hit that 70 and there is an excessive sizzling layer on top. Weird, because it's not an overly bright speaker. The 70 works much better with a greenback or g12h30.

these guys play through the normal channel.....


i mean the brilliant channel....anyone trying to play a trebleboost there with single coils will only be liked by dogs...and killed by humans.

Vox AC30 head into Marshall 1960-A 4x12 cab. The vox head sounded so wonderful with it's matching cab/speakers at the store but when I got it home and plugged into my Marshall cab it became a shrilly thing that lost it's characteristic of having every string ring with clarity. I learned a big lesson with that combination, and that is not to assume all heads will match with my cabs. Seems like a no-brainer but it was the first time I'd had such a bad mismatch. Not the amp head's fault; it just needed to be paired with the appropriate voicing of cabs/speakers.
