Members GuyaGuy
the EHX Pulsar and Stereo Pulsar: extremely versatileDano Tunamelt: good and pretty versatile on the cheapEmpress Trem: for crazy rhythmic patterns, tap, and 2 speed toggling...http://www.empresseffects.com/tremolo.php i'd recommend not getting the BOSS TR-2. just kind a boring. Members GRINGO_LOCO
how much do you want to spend ? what kind of trem sounds do you like ? have you tried any trems that you "did" or "didnt" like ? GRINGO
Members Eric Dahlberg
Diaz Tremodillo if you want a classic Fender sound or Keeley TR-2 if you want crazy modulation possibilities.
Members JDandCoke
just buy the semaphore. it is easily the best trem out there. kicks the pulsar in the ass and then points at it, and then laughs... and then it smiles at the empress, cos its so much smaller, and yet still sounds better

Now...how does it sound in real life?? awesome. the square wave is the cleanest slice i've heard. i'll admit, there are trems out that are more tube like out there but the empress still holds its own and is hard to beat for versatility. here are a couple of clips i did: ramp up/down http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=4168154&q=hi rhythms http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=4168140&q=hi

I have a Gig-fx Chopper. I'm pretty happy with the chop sounds on that. And has some other functions that I really like. But the Empress Tremolo sound is amazing. I haven't heard anything like it. It's a good thing I don't have another $225 to spend right now. Nice clips btw. :thu:

EHX Stereo Pulsar - lower budget . . . or . . . Semaphore - much higher budget ! I LIKE BOTH
Members surfcat
How much better is the Semaphore than a Voodoo Lab? Have they fixed the noise problem (in bypass mode) with the Tremodillo? I've heard you can still kind of hear it when bypassed on some of them. Also, the Swamp Thang sounded really good in a sound clip comparing it to the VL. Sorry, don't have the link.

Members Bassin' 'Round
...the Semaphore is fantastic, doggone swell... ...but if I could only have 1, it would be the Cusack Tap-A-Whirl... ...and then there is the Zvex Tremorama, a wild little box... ...oh, btw, I've got 1 of each & I'm in tremolo heaven... Members VoodooChild24
Thanks for all the response guys. The empress and semaphore really impressed me. It's a bit pricey though. I don't want to spend more than a hundred. Although trem pedals are expensive.
Members The Friendly Ranger
I use a Voodoo Lab and it works fine for me at the moment. For the $$$, it's not a bad deal. Been thinking about checking out a Semaphore at some point, though. Here's a link to a tremolo shootout that Jack Orman did: http://www.muzique.com/trem.htm The VL compared quite favorably to some of the higher dollar units. There's one tremolo I tried that I absolutely did not like and that's the Fulltone SupaTrem. I hate to slag on it because Fuller makes some fine pedals but this one just didn't do it for me. Members i51423
Any suggestions for a more twin-like trem? My friend's twin's tremolo is gorgeous. More on the cheap side, too. If possible.
