Members CHOUTMUSIC
Bought this today with a couple other new EH pedals (see my Poly Phase thread). My old Jazzmaster is really noisy when only one Pickup is on (shielding problems I assume) so I decided to record a sample with that. Keep in mind that most single coils aren't this noisy. As you will hear (may wanna turn this up though, but watch out for when I turn on the big muff), there still is noise, but it is cut down a bit and has a little bit of a crackly sound when engaged...but it's better than it was...guess I couldn't expect it to get rid of everything. I'm also flicking between the strong and normal toggle. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=8EC5DE503DA65D4A
Members lostandfoundpdx
pretty impressive... so what's the vote? is it making the grade or are you ditching it? i am holding off on getting one of these just because it seems too good to be true, you know. Members CHOUTMUSIC
Well, it you are playing clean with a normal single coil hum, I'm sure that's where it excels. It certainly cuts the hum frequencies, but if you have your distortion pedal on, it's not going to get rid of all that noise. So the way I see it right now, it's certainly less noisy with it on, but still not perfect...but I plan on keeping it for sure.
Members lostandfoundpdx
thats cool.... i maunly wanna quiet down my p90s on my gain channel, that hum drives me nuts.
Members Uma Floresta
Thanks for posting that - I've been curious about that one forever! Seems like it'd be very good for recording purposes, cutting down on that background noise from the get-go.
Members MrMunky
Nice! Do you find that it affects your tone at all when engaged?
Members Uma Floresta
Does it increase the volume of your guitar signal? Or were you just strumming louder when you turned it on at first? It's hard to tell if this thing is affecting your tone or if you're strumming at different parts of the strings. Also have you tried it in the amps loop (if the amps got one)
Members CHOUTMUSIC
Haven't used it much yet, but the level seems the same, but perhaps a little brighter sound with it on. Not much of a difference.
Members psalt_phallow
sounds like crap with the muff on. Sounds great for just the single coils though. I'd like to hear it with an average noise single coil.
Members imcorn
hmm.. i dunnoe if its just me.. but i do detect a very distinct change in tone.. and that is so not cool (as how Cartman would say it)

I guess its just a matter of which one you want to deal with; hum or tone loss.

How much are these running for again? $30-$40 right, or was that just the LBP-1?
Members CHOUTMUSIC
In the manual, it is suggested to run it at the beginning of the chain when you use effects... It says it takes out the odd harmonics in the hum present in your signal on Normal mode and in Strong takes out both even and odd. It figured it would inevitably affect your tone somewhat, but I wish I had experience with more noise reduction pedals to have something to compare this to. I was playing quiet at home with my Tele Bridge pickup which has a regular hum, and it cleaned it up nicely. I will be playing loud at the space today with it and I will report back. Members imcorn
thought it had a MSRP of $130 - $150?? If it was $30 - $40, everyone would go out and buy one just for kicks

If it was $30-$40 you'd almost be stupid not to try it.

Members CHOUTMUSIC
I used it tonight playing really loud, and I couldn't really tell much of a difference in tone, if any. I'm happy with it.
Members NoirAbattoir
Thanks for sharing. I wonder if it will work to eliminate ground hum.
Members i51423
Can you upload that MP3 again somewhere? I'm almost to the point of getting an ISP Decimator. The little bit of single coil buzz I have is getting to me.
