Everybody needs at least one cheeseball in their harem:

Wacky guitars have a funk about them - you won't play the same stuff on it guaranteed. Built-in inspiration...

That's just retro lookin' cool though.

The airline is bonkers oddball shaped. Looks like one of those Teiscos that was probably made out of a reject piece of wood that was so butchered that's the best shape they could come up with.

If the body was just more rounded and not so :freak: it would be fine.

I have a live video from the 80s of The Cure with Robert Smith playing one of these in powder blue. Sounded really good on the video, but of course there was a good amount of chorus and delay on it, and it was going through a Deluxe Reverb if I remember correctly.

There's plenty of wear, but in all the right places (arm rest, cowboy chord positions, ciggy burn behind the nut).

I was told I am the second owner - the guy who owned it previously was pretty proud of it - he stenciled 'Tony's Mummy Case' on the original case that came with it...

Very nice. :thu: I love those things but have only played the reissues...which are hit or miss. Are those pretty solid feeling or are they still kinda toy-like?

Also good to know that it is "Totally Shielded"!!!

Rock fucking solid. Definitely not a toy - I know what you mean regarding the reissues - total crap, IMO.

The neck is hard Poplar with two 1/8"x1/4" steel reinforing rods and a good 1/4" worth of Rosewood for the fingerboard. Big 'ol C shape - I've strung it up as a Baritone before (.60-.16 B concert tuning) - didn't even flinch. Original frets with hardly any wear - I don't know what they're made of but they are indestructable - I use GHS TNT Boomers typically and they haven't made a dent in them. Original tuners too.

The body is super resonant and loud - with a nasally honk like a banjo. The pickup is very low output (like 3k) - so I use a boost of some sort to bring it up to volume, but it's very sweet.

It's just such a cool guitar - the aluminum side dot markers, Masonite body and pickguard, Naugahyde binding tape - totally '50s. I was totally lucky to find it when I did before the eBay craze...
