Members Devi Ever Posted December 1, 2006 Members Posted December 1, 2006 Maybe a Matamp connection? Honestly I know jack shit about Matamp... thought they were relatively a new company but apparently not... anyone got the 411? "ELECTRIC AMP INNOVATIONS USA With the help of Dave Green and John Tilley, MATUSA ends UK imports and moves on with 100% USA Hand Made gear called ELECTRIC AMP. " http://www.planetoftheamps.com/amp-reviews.html
Members alan2 Posted December 1, 2006 Members Posted December 1, 2006 i believe electric used to be the US arm of matamp. a couple of years ago the transition to being an entirely separate company was made... or something along those lines.
Members merple Posted December 1, 2006 Members Posted December 1, 2006 The owner of electric used to be the US dealer for MatampSomething happened which I dont know much about and people that do are pretty vague about.Electric started up and is based around the old matamp circuits from what ive heard

Minimal features, very high wattage. Their newer stuff is focused more on lower watts and improved features (power switching, FX loops, etc...). For what it's worth, I think Matamp is probably my favorite amp manufacturer overall. Very cool voicing, and the fact that you can call up the factory and have them custom build you exactly what you want is just  I desperately want a GTL with 1224 style power switching to match up with my Valvetech's cleans.
Members merple Posted December 1, 2006 Members Posted December 1, 2006 Jesus Christ. That thing is a monsterwhat is it 8x10"/6x12"?

Orange musical instrument shop and recording studio. cliff cooper highered matt matias to design an amplifier for his store. matt matias is the creator of matamp. the original orange amps all said "orange matamp" . later on orange and matamp split and both continued making amps seperately.

Members 6StrngStrangler Posted December 2, 2006 Members Posted December 2, 2006 There is a lot of "bad blood" between Matamp and Mr. Wheeler. I for one have a Matamp, excellent amp no matter what Mr. Wheeler says. Yes Joel used to be the US dealer. The Electric Amp was designed and built by Matamp. It was supposed to be the US version of a Matamp with out having to ship them over from England. So technically If you like Electric amps, you are basicly buying a Matamp under a different name, and different parts made in the US. I was originally going to buy an Electric Amp but I tried to find other Electric users so I can get some sort of opinion on the amp. I had trouble finding anyone so I just ordered a new Matamp GTL from England for a better price and a 3 week wait. It was one of the best moves I ever made. I have no doubt that Electric Amps are good sound amps. After all the Matamp designed the whole amp and have been building amps since 1946. I left out the what really happend between Matamp and Joel Wheeler, that is a whole nother can of worms! I only know alittle bit from what Jeff the owner of Matamp told me.
Members LoneStarGuitar Posted December 2, 2006 Members Posted December 2, 2006 feel free to open that can of worms. i have wondered what the real story is behind all of this. seems like there is some serious underlying bad blood.
Members 6StrngStrangler Posted December 2, 2006 Members Posted December 2, 2006 If you want to know the what really happend, go to this link and ask around. They will tell you. http://p203.ezboard.com/bofficialmatampownersclub
Members Ray20 Posted December 2, 2006 Members Posted December 2, 2006 what is annoying is how theres 20 different web pages for the same amp with different tolex NO gut shots NO sound clips
