Members placebo62
Hi folks, Can anyone recommend me a pedal that will get similar sounds to the oscillation at the end of Radioheads Karma police. The delay I have oscillates, but it just turns into a muddly rumble.

Members placebo62
I'm trying to get the 'oscillation' video clip happening on the Diamond website to hear the Memory Lane in action. Looks like a good option for me, but its $$$

Members placebo62
Yep. So its most likely the roland space echo that is providing those sounds. Is there an alternative to the roland space echo in a stomp box?
Members jrowan
The oscillation actually comes from Ed, not Jonny or Thom. He uses a rackmount digital delay for this, but I forget which one at the moment.
Members jrowan
Just checked. It's an AMS digital delay. I had to cover it at a a friend's party a few months ago, and I got my DD-6 to do a reasonably decent job of it.

Members ScreamCage
I didn't even know the H2O did echo. Stupid me.Yeah, I wouldn't think the echo on that would be really great. I'd probably check out the DE7. It's the only oscillating pedal I've tried (and it was great:love: ), so my experience is limited here.
Members Prehistoricpain
My dm-2 does the job.

Looks like a good option for me, but its $$$ I've read a few comments from people saying they don't really care for the ML's self-oscillation, but I think it sounds wonderful. We used mine for a couple of songs on an album I just finished, and the guitarist, the band and I all thought it turned out really well. Yes, it's not the least expensive delay pedal around, but it is a true analog delay with dry and effect ("stereo") outputs, modulation, tap tempo, insert / exp pedal jack (can be wired for other things) and about 550 ms of delay time... oh, and it sounds killer and is built like a tank too. I absolutely love mine - one of the best pedal purchases I've ever made.
Phil O'Keefe
Just checked. It's an AMS digital delay. I don't know what they used on that track, but if it was an AMS DMX 15-80, then it isn't the type of thing most guitarists would own or use in a live rig... unless they're Gilmour or someone like that. It's a large, rather expensive studio rackmount unit.
Members Sister Saviour
It was an AMS in the studio, yes. I don't which particular pedal they use live, but when I saw them it sounded pretty close. Ed has a whole bunch of delays in his live rig, there's an Akai E1, at least one DL-4 and an RV-3 and four DD-6s (ouch!). Johnny has the Space Echo, two E1s and an RV-3. They've most likely got even more stuff on the latest tour too.Edit: Ok, so in video of the Glastonbury version its Ed playing with the DL-4 making the crazy noise. Members jimmyc84
i've seen a video of them doing it live and it was clearly a rack unit he was using at the time. so he probably does take it out live
