Members pboudreau
Does anyone know what fuzzes/distortions lead guitarist Karl Precoda used on the album "The Days of Wine and Roses" I know high volume and feedback (and I believe a Silvertone guitar) contributed to his tone, but anybody have any specifics on his noise pedals? Members gil1
My old band opened for Dream Syndicate around then, but I wasn't a Pedal fan them, so I didn't notice that. I did notice a 355, a LP and a Marshall full stack. And very loud. Volume would take care of a lot of that tone, though.
Members fuzzinator
So cool to see this thread! I always thought Karl Precoda played a Harmony Rocket of some sorts. Gil, you may have played with the band after Precoda left, replaced by Paul Cutler. I think Precoda was out of the band by the end of 83. As for fuzz, I get a real Vox Tonebender vibe out of the sounds on Days Of Wine And Roses.
Members pboudreau
If you listen to the 1982 Davis CA radio station CD that Dream Syndicate released (forget the name), Steve Wynn mentions that Karl had stopped playing his Silvertone recently. Karl for my money was incredibly underrated. He and Wynn did an outstanding job of blending their guitar parts. And Wynn played fantastic rythym guitar
