I gave it away but I miss it now :(

I remember it had two transistors and three knobs

volume fuzz and "static"

was this a fuzzface with a bias knob on it (whatever it is that gives you that gating sound)

well..

the insulating board (between board and chassis) was cardboard

the board was actually hand "printed" with solder beads

My Static Egg was built the same way. The only major issue I had with my Holowon experience was their random decision to not paint my pedal during production. Though I can understand their need to cut costs here and there, the pedal that I recieved did not even vaguely resemble the picture on the Holowon website at the time.

I kind of miss my Static Egg, too. It was definitely a unique-sounding fuzz ... though you can achieve similar sounds with a DOD FX76 Punkifier.

Did you order directly from the manufacturer? If so, I'd be interested in hearing more about your customer service experience as it develops.

If they have improved operations any, I'd be half-interested in scoring the Ge version of the Static Egg.

Both are eBay. The Static Egg+Short Fuse has a Ge/Si switch. I just paid for that yesterday. The Static Egg I have here right now sounds really good.

Did you get them direct from Holowon or second-hand?

It took awhile for the Static Egg+Short Fuse to get here.

That sounds like Holowon's MO. How much more tonal variety does the Static Egg's Si/Ge switch provide?

On a somewhat-related note, I recently discovered that the Barge Concepts BP-1 can also create "clogged vacuum nozzle" fuzz textures.
