Members L6Sguy
investigate the EH pedalbag. quite cheap, and (surprisingly) quite a (non-)board.
Members NITEFLY182
Because they make life easier and rigid aluminum frames take work, raw materials, and time to make. However, any company selling an "ATA style" board for more than 50 bucks is a waste of money. Plywood and formica shouldnt cost a lot of cash. Maybe when there is a case invloved more cash is fine but some places sell just boards for $100+

Members AtomHeartMother
Rondos has nice ones for $40. They're cases, but the lids only hae like a 1/2" lip going around, so they can double as a pedal board. I'll probably snatch up a small one once I get a few pedals. Members Kyle_64
right now i took a hard case apart and used the lid as a board. its just hard if im on dist and what to switch to clean with a flange or something, i have to balance on the lip (which hurts) and stretch my big toes out. when i get them all screwed in with bicycle chain, ill rebuild some hinges so i can put the lid on and remove it during a show. the case is plywood tho so im not sure how much protection id be getting. also the lip is terrible, if i cut it off, it would be hard to glue to the bottom of the upper lip. im considering just buying a board but ive got 9 (i think) pedals and some more form x-mas on the way. so even if i blew 200 cdn on a board, some of the are still on the floor... Members FDZ
I built my own pedalboard/case, but a decent sandwich doesn't cost me $150.
Members Midrange
I just got this one in the mail a few days ago. It's made very sturdy, and not too expensive.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190062540370&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_BIN_IT&refitem=190056495812&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget He also does custom made ones. I'm really happy with mine.
Members Mistersuperfly
I don't know if I would have paid the cost for my pedalboard... but, I definitely enjoy it as a gift!!! Most of you know what my board looks like... and I don't feel like posting it.

Members cooterbrown
I had a nice homemade board I built from a Wal-Mart multi-shelf unit before I realized I was just being bourgeois and cheap, so I bought a Pedaltrain 2.
Members Eric Dahlberg
A big part of it is all the shipping costs incurred shipping between manufacturers, distributors, & dealers, the shipping isn't a big deal when you're talking about smaller or higher priced items but you feel it on the large, relatively cheap stuff. It's definitely a situation where going factory direct would make quite a bit of sense.
Members LoneStarGuitar
i have always built all mine. scavenged the wood, salvaged a lot of the hardware from wherever i could find it.

You've got some nice pedals on there, why wouldn't you protect them properly? The EH provides a bit of the convenience of a board but hardly any protection.
