Members GuyaGuy
so what do you personally look for in a compressor? i'm still getting used to using them. as simple as they often are, they do seem to have these subtle nuances that you don't get right off the bat. anyhow, i've tried out a few and i think i've found the one i like but i'd like to hear what you expect and like in a compression unit--especially in pedal form. The Tone Press works GREAT as a buffer for teh other teh effects in teh your chain 2. The Tone Press works GREAT at filling out your tone and is especialyl useflul for adding teh thickness to other effects. 2. You need to buy a Tone Press so you can be enchanted too, like I was Any other questions ?
Members puddinstone
I've been using my Barber to even things out....basically like a studio compressor. Basically making me sound slightly better then I am. Sustain at 9 o'clock and blend at about 12.

Members puddinstone
I replaced the SHO with a Burriss Boost that is amazing! the best boost I've found. I was sorry to see it go....the SHO that is... to say on topic: Sometimes I set my compressor for solo boost and a bit more sustain for solo type bits. Members puddinstone
I was down between that one and the Barber. I picked the Barber based on the blend control. I figured if it wasn't transparant enough I could blend the compression down... Plus, it can be used as a clean boost by putting the blend all the way to the left and cranking the Vol.

If I remember correctly, the HBE kicked the Keeley Comp off The Gainster's board a few months back. I use a comp just for adding extra shimmer to clean tones when I'm using modulation; typically chorus or phase. Really intensifies the sound and adds sparkle. I've been using the comp on my Rt 66 lately because I really like the tone control. Every comp should have one.

Members cubistguitar
I would like to try the Tone Press. the descriptions of how it works are great. I have been using a demeter opto compulator and have enjoyed it greatly I don't always use it in all setups, but if you want to add something to your tone without a big change in character it is great. Thickens. after a dirt box it may clean up the tone a little, but the sustain is nice. I t does interesting squashed that does not feel like a typical MXR type comp. It really thickens up the sound and adds some spank. I plan on leaving it on all the time.
