Give a Twin a little bit of dirt, but still kind of clean?

a clean boost like the Keeley Katana or Zvex Super Duper. I have both and they work great for what you describe. The Katana has pull out knob that adds just a sligt amount of grit. The Super duper is 2 - Super Hard Ons that can be cascaded into each other. You can actually get a lot of dirt out of that pedal too.

Isn't that a fuzz? I think what I'm looking for is going to be more like a boost that will hit my pre-amp tubes more so than some germanium chips creating distortion.

Besides, kind of out of my price range. I'm thinking maybe a MXR micro amp? Those things are pretty cheap. Not true bypass though I don't think. I guess any true-bypass is automagicly 100 bucks these days.

Mine will break up on the trem channel at just about any volume. I'm pretty sure it could use a new set of tubes though :)

I'm also thinking clean boost though. An overdrive will compress your sound more than you want it to. Maybe a Seymour Duncun Pickup Booster? Those are pretty cheap...

Just had tubes and cap job so it won't break up at all until after your ears start bleeding (it's a silver face). :D

You might have hit the nail on the head though with the Pickup Booster. Cheap and TB. Hmmm. .. def have to check one out. Thanks. :thu:

Yeah, I have a silverface too...and a pickup booster for that matter, though I've never tried it with the Twin. If this snow ever stops and I can get to my amp, I'll let you know how it sounds...

Awesome, thanks man. :thu:

The thing I'm afraid of is that it will just make it much much louder, which is something I'm trying to avoid. :(

+1 on the SD2in1 (and sanely priced alternatives).

I borrowed a SF twin while my amp was in the shop and that thing got all the dirt I needed. I still used a fuzz but I guess that's why I'm here.

Good question. Wish I had the cash to try it out. Seems like both channels would be really loud though. ;)
