BS - they do just fine.

The newer SCH-Z is nice, the older SAD-1 and SCH-1 are both killer pedals.

By a used BOSS pedal instead.

and in several instances, end up with a pedal thats not nearly as good sounding as Arion's version.

done many gigs with arion. never, ever, ever has anything broken on me, excluding one battery door.

sfl-1, sch-1, spe-1 (stereo parametric eq), sad-1 are all great. reportedly the sch-x is largely the same as the sch-1.

to try out effects in a home use way, go for it.

so the protective confines of a pedalboard would still leave arion stomps in a risky/dangerous position?

Ok, the one's I'm primarily interested in are the chorus, the octave, the phaser, and the flanger.

Oh! And the tuner that's supposed to be really good.

Are all of those worth buying? It only adds up to like $100 and I'd basically have everything I'd need for now. (Once I get my Ibanez DE7 and FZ7 next week, at least)

Also, is there another website I can buy them from besides Musician's Friend?

re: comments about the cheap switch;

open one up. take a look at what your stepping on.

one of the cheapest switches i've ever seen, you could literally break it in half with your fingers. i'm sure they sound great and everyone wants to defend themselves and their purchases but seriously. open it up.

Well...I don't own any Arion's but I could open up one of my Boss pedals and probably break its plastic switch with my fingers...

never mind me, just my opinion. that and L6Sguy hates me for some reason.
:p

I believe you...was just sayin'...if I wanted to I could break any of my pedals...and if I'm careful I can make even the biggest P.O.S. last a long time. Considering how ass cheap these things are I think a flimsy switch is no biggie. The switching system on those Dano mini systems is about as precarious as you can get and I never had trouble with any of the ones I had.

No, it's true, the switch on Arion could quite easily cracked apart by your fingers,

But, as Wilbo has just correctly mentioned:

My Boss SP-1 and my OD-1 have an equally flimsey transparent switch that inspires absolutely no confidence,

Same with my DD-5 and 6,

And should I mention DOD? EHX? They're really magnificent effects, but with real obvious construction "anomalies."

Still - after much abuse, spilt beer, Doc Martins and other indesciminate heavy feet, rapid highway deceleration syndrome - both inside and outside a vehicle, they are all still functional, including, and especially, Arion.

Go figure.

cheers!
