People were wanting comparisons, so I made these tonight.

on this page:

'65 Fender Mustang (with SD cool rails in bridge) > DD20 (gtr loop) > Little Big Muff > Phase 90 + Small Stone

They both start clean, then distorted, slowly turn up the speed on each (Small Stone I go through both color switches) and I switch on/off the phasers at different times to hear the difference in bypass mode...the Phase 90 has a huge boost, and the Small Stone, of course, has a drop.

Phase 90 is smoother - the Small Stone has a bit of harshness to me in the higher frequencies of the sweep. But the Small Stone is obviously more versatile and can get more crazy.

Perhaps a little overkill on the lengths, but I wanted to be fairly thorough.

I've had a few Phase 90 reissues and currently own the nano Small Stone.

I find the Small Stone to be much smoother sounding than the Phase 90 with the color switch off. There's none of the harsh gritty sound that comes with the Phase 90. There's no volume boost (or volume drop for that matter) like the Phase 90.

With the color switch on the SS on, it hollows out the sound in a really cool psychedelic way but the mids can be a bit overbearing when it gets to that part of the sweep.
